I cannot seem to get excited about this season.. Hoping this is just temporary.

I really hoping a nice win in Morgantown will get me going because right now I'm kinda blah.
I'm feeling the same way. It was just a couple of years ago that the opening win in Wiscy gave me a boost even though the season finish was a disaster

I feel the same way. For me, it is a combination of college football's new mercenary reality and the fact that we are in the middle a damn consequential election year. When I contrast the two in terms of actual consequence, football comes off rather poorly.

I'm just sad that I can't attend the game; was there in 1992 and had a great time. One of the highlights was riding the lite/personal railway around the campus.

Shows a healthy state of mind.

Come on. In ten years, everyone will remember Penn State’s record in 2024. No one will remember who won the election.

We're pretty much effed no matter who wins the election so you might as well focus on football.

I'm the opposite. Can't wait. Baseball blows.
I like baseball but it's different. There are 162 games so no one game is that significant. It's not an edge of your seat type of thing like football. It's a more leisurely watch.

I really dislike what has happened to college football. And that Ohio State loss last year really did some damage to me. I would say I felt like the OP all offseason up until about Monday this week. I got my hopeful and competitive juices flowing. Hoping for and looking forward to an *** beating in Morgantown!

I’m always happy to see football season begin, and will stay interested as long as my teams remain competitive.
Regarding the election comments, aren’t there some other sites where that can be discussed?

Friday night is gonna come around and you'll feel Fall for the first time. The local school band is gonna be performing off in the distance but close enough that you can just hear them. Then you're gonna go to sleep and dream you somehow still have some eligibility left and you're out there on the field again. This dream will wake you with excitement and you won't be able to go back to sleep, so you go downstairs and make a cup of coffee, look through some highlight reels and wait for the pregame shows to start. The excitement builds and you can't wait for College GameDay to make their biased picks. You watch as Desmond Howard picks WVU to upset PSU and now you're pissed! It's "Go Time!" Bring on the Eers! It's time for Nittany Lion Football and you're all in! LET'S GO! WE ARE!

Perhaps you are no longer distracted from the greater issues of the day by the bread and circuses given to you by the New World Order. Perhaps you are enlightened just enough to reject the Brave New World.

I'll be as excited come noon Saturday as any other time. The expanded playoff is going to be a ton of fun, and keep many more teams involved and playing much more meaningful games later into the year.

It’s like trying to get excited for the Harrisburg Senators or any other minor league team.

I will still attend a Hershey Bears game a few times a year, but for the life of me I don’t care enough to remember who was in the lineup.

I realized this week I could not name anyone on the starting OL, at WR, or at DB. The kickers? Not them either.

I am looking forward to attending some high school games. My neighbor has a son who plays and I will be invested in the outcome of his games. Penn State? Not so much. I am surprised by that.

Note: I used to have a stack of college football magazines on my Family Room coffee table. Street and Smiths, Lindy’s, Athlon, etc., but not this year. I saved $40 I guess, maybe $50 with the prices. Gimme some prime rib on restaurant night!

Given our 24/7 news cycle and over bombardment of pretty much everything (CFB, election, adorable puppy videos), I think people are overstaurated and CFB, in this particular case, doesnt have that same allure and "special-ness" it once did.

The state of college athletics, particularly football, makes it harder for me to care every year. I want to see Penn State do well but catching the game is not a must-see activity for me anymore.
