But to not even mention the Rose Bowl at all on College Football Live today? Meanwhile, they talk breathlessly about USC for an entire segment….and of course “the future” of OSU and Michigan….
The only interesting story to come out of the non playoff games was Tulane beating USC. Outside of that, its beens said a million times over (including on this board) that the non playoff bowl games are meaningless exhibitions. That doesn't change just because your team won one of those games. My advice...just enjoy it. Watch it on replay 100 times until August. Right, but that means means nothing to anyone who isn't a Penn State or Utah fan. My guess is you snubbed your nose at all the other bowl games. My point was mainly about the media and what the playoff has meant to the reduced interest in all other bowl games.Moron alert:

Go tell Franklin, the staff, Sean Clifford, PJ Mustipher, J Brown, etc. that the game was a "meaningless exhibition". Then, go say the same thing to Kyle Whittingham and Cam Rising.
See if they agree.

I still watch certain bowl games, but he is correct in that the playoff system has taken so much from the bowls. Never thought I'd say this given the number of times Penn State was screwed by the old system for selecting a national champion, but I miss it. By the time the championship game finally roles around, I've lost interest. And unless it is their team in the game, I would guess most of the country feels the same and isn't all that keyed up to watch a game on a Monday night in mid January.
That‘s certainly true based on the TV ratings for the rose bowl. This year‘s game was watched by the fewest people in history:

If only the playoff games matter than any game any team plays after they have two losses is meaningless. The only interesting story to come out of the non playoff games was Tulane beating USC.
