I don’t know the legalities of making a sammich as decreed by the McAndrew Board, but Duke’s Mayo is a must. Prove me wrong.

I learned here a long time ago that ketchup on hot dogs is illegal. So, it must be that we on the McAndrew Board, being ALL.-KNOWING. o_O , must have laid down the law on making sammiches. I am here to say that Duke’s Mayo is required. Prove me wrong.

Mayonnaise makes me nauseous on sight alone. I would never eat it. Same with mustard. I also don’t like ketchup, but not to the level of the other two. The only thing a good sandwich needs is some salt.

It depends. Few things trigger my nostalgia like Luger baloney (it's a Beaver County thing...) sandwiches with French's yellow mustard. BLT absolutely requires mayo (and fresh cracked pepper and hot sauce), but I don't have a strong mayo preference. Have had Duke's and it's fine - the best mayo though IMO is Japanese Kewpie Mayo made with MSG and egg yolks.

So what do you put on a hotdog, Worcestershire sause?

I agree 100%. The board is cleaner than in the past. There is more information than in the past, but the information is much much more difficult to access. I HATE huge multi page threads.

I also grew up in Beaver County and remember baloney being referred to or called Jumbo.
PS: I have become a big fan of Cuban Sandwiches, the mustard, pickles , meats and pressed….

Yeah, they were a local meat packing company that I think sold to a bigger company at some point. The baloney was relatively thin sliced with scalloped edges. Sooooo good. My other Beaver County nostalgia indulgence is chipped chopped ham bbq sandwiches - my grandma made the best. Remember the old crock pot just boiling away and the smell of relish, ketchup, and chili sauce wafting through her house...

My wife is from Pittsburgh and still calls it jumbo. I also learned about chipped ham and brick cheese from her. 😁

I loved those and could eat a bunch of them at one time. Thanks for the memory and taste bud nudge!

For reals. Buy those packs of hamburger buns that are the size of a kid's fist and stack 'em high; they go down fast.

Why oh why did I open this thread, knowing full well that my fridge is utterly devoid of sandwich fixins right now + I’m feeling too tired and lazy to run out for some?

That was just plain stoopid, dammit 😡
