I don’t understand how Tennessee coach get caught paying players but Tennessee most likely won’t be penalize for it. The school still benefited from those paid players and some is most likely still on the team.

As ridiculous as it sounds, was it primarily because they "cooperated", ditched the coach and didn't fight it?

Didn't they self-impose penalties? If so then the NCAA will probably accept them and close the case. If he would have waited all of this could have been done under the NIL LOL.
