From everything i've heard, It's very very possible that our own #9, John Cohen might turn us down to continue to build UK into a baseball powerhouse. It would be a punch in the stomach, b/c i think this guy is top notch - the one we need.

If it happens, i hope MSU fans realize that there could be a lot of factors in why he doesn't accept the offer. Lexington is a great place to live, they have more money, they could easily set the table and provide everything Cohen would need to build a dynasty there.

Ugh --- maybe i'm wrong, but i have a feeling he's goign to accept an extension - i haven't heard many good things re: our chances. The word is out there that he doesn't want to follow Polk, or do anything to hurt his friendship with Raffo. Just doesn't look like it's meant to be.

We shall find out soon enough and no matter who Byrne decides one, we MSU need to embrace that coach.

the fact the newspaper reporter has been trying to get in touch with him for 2 days and Cohen won't return his calls tells me the Cohen isn't too anxious to deny that he may be leaving Kentucky for MSU or somewhere else.

that we should accept mediocrity. That is part of our problem with our athletics in general. Hell, even Jackson State didn't accept James Bell or whatever his name was, why do we have to embrace Raffo? Because he's the baseball coach?

Screw Raffo, screw Polk, and screw those pussies that call themselves baseball players.

College athletics is a business. You cut the dead weight and those who can't get it done. This is the #1 problem with MSU. We have this famiy mentality stuck so far up our *** we are getting it kicked by those who understand that college sports is a business. If we continue to think small and act small we will continue to be small. Raffo has to understand it's business nothing personal and if not, it shows why the baseball team is full of py players. Cohen has to understand sometimes you compete against friends for jobs. That's the way it is. Screw all this warm fuzzy wishy washy feeling crap. Get some men in the ath dept and run it like a man.

//end rant

I wonder how many letters Polk has written to Cohen asking him not to come so Raffo can get a break.

We've got to start treating our athletic dept. as a business instead of a family and quit protecting people who are giving mediocre performance at best.

There are two old sayings that come to mind:
"Don't mix business with pleasure."
"Don't do business with family."
The obvious reason these two sayings existed was personal feelings can cloud business dealings (see what I did there?). There is a way to do what is best for the business without being a complete jerk to a person on their way out.
