I don't understand the need to constantly change rules.

This one will be a *****. (written by Matt Wyatt)

Replay: Get it right, get a free spin

In 2008 when coaches are successful with their first replay challenge, they will then be awarded another. Get it wrong, and that's it; you're done for the day as far as challenges go. Oh, and a coach can't have more than two in a game. I like replay, but I can honestly say that from the CSS broadcast booth the last two seasons I've rarely been dead-on with the officials in review situations. It just seems like their decisions are so sporadic with these things. That said, I think the coach's view from the sidelines is no more in-tune with what the officials see (on video under the cape) than what I see on our monitors in the booth, and therefore it's just always a gamble…point blank. They (refs) may reverse a play and may not, no matter how obvious…or not. Any coach who gets more challenges right than wrong ought head to Philadelphia and pull the 'ole slot-machine handle a few times too…the odds are about the same and maybe he's having a streak of good luck.

That is a terrible idea. Just because a coach missed a call earlier doesn't mean a possible game changing questionable call should go unchallenged later. Stupid.

Just put a ref in the booth and let them review the plays as they happen.

If I'm not mistaken, they do this already. I seem to remember them saying alot last year that every play was reviewed and if the booth ref saw anything, he could stop play and reverse the call.

They keep stopping games to review plays that have no real impact on the game. I say, let coaches have unlimited challenges and only review calls that a coach challanges. But for each challenge the coach is wrong on, his team gets charged a time out. If they're out of time outs, they get a delay of game penalty. After the first delay of game penalty, the penalty increases to 10, then 15 yards. In a system like this, the coaches would do a pretty good job of challenging the calls that need to be reviewed and letting the ones that don't need to be reviewed go. And as for Matt's point that the coaches don't have a good view of the play, he's forgetting that they have 2-4 assistant coaches in the booth with a great view.

And no, every play does not have an equal impact on the game. The 3-yard run on 1st and 10 from your own 30 is pretty insignificant compared with the 40-yard touchdown pass. That's why they call big plays "big plays."
