Gusty south to southeast winds are expected through late afternoon
today, primarily along and east of Interstate 35. Sustained winds
in the 20-25 MPH range are expected, with embedded 35-40 MPH gusts
possible. Be sure to secure any loose outdoor objects through the
early evening over this portion of South-Central Texas.

Matchplay is unpredictable enough, but you'll be able to tell who's used to playing in Texas this afternoon.

I played a round on the coast a few weeks ago with sustained winds in the 40’s and gusts over 50. We almost cancelled but figured WTH. It wasn’t as bad as we expected. It was a heavily wooded course and I’m a low ball hitter so the only issue I had was the gusts blowing me off the ball on the t box.

I played a round in Houston on a links style course with sustained winds in the 35-40 mph range. Wind was dead into our faces on a 150-yard par 3. I normally hit an 8-iron there, but on that day, I hit driver pin high. It was unreal!!
