I guess it was just one loss

And a game we were never going to win anyway.

On paper, we are still only one game behind where we hoped to be at this point. We won 2 games we should have won. We lost 2 were expected to lose. We lost one that was considered a toss-up.

We are kind of back where we were after the UGA game. After that loss, the MSU game was do-or-die to get our season back on track. Then UT game was out there as a game to flip the script and get ahead of schedule.

Now, after the UT loss, the UF game is do-or-die. It's a must-win to salvage the season. Unfortunately, we have a very tough game after that going to Mizzou. We'll find out a little more about them over the next 2 weeks as they play LSU and UK. Mizzou is 5-0, but hasn't played a terribly challenging schedule, with wins over South Dakota, MTSU, K-State, Memphis and Vandy. The K-State win was a big one for them at the time, but K-State has only played SE Missouri State, Troy and UCF.

Fairly sobering yet accurate overall take.

The glass-half-empty way to look at Mizzou is they’ve had plenty of tune-up-type games to get everything right. They should be humming at this point. As I said in another thread, I’m not considering their schedule strength. They’re currently undefeated and most likely better than us. I’m not optimistic.

For sure. I would not argue that they are not better than us. But, yeah, if you're looking for reasons to hope, it's that they haven't really been tested yet.

Feels like A&M, Mizzu, UK, UF, and CU are all "home team wins" games. Luckily 3 of those are home games.

The nice thing is our last 4 games of the season are at home. However, we very likely could go 0-4 on the road this year. If we could find a way to split Mizzou and A&M that would be huge. Huge.

This is all theoretical talk, though. With our OL, we very easily could go 2-5 the rest of the way.

They've got to do some major tinkering in the off week.
