I guess the Mario Anderson transfer worked out for everyone

I was highly bitter about his transfer at the time, as it was the worst level of ingratitude imaginable. He was a DII nobody at Newberry before Beamer gave him a shot to shine in the SEC. After making a name for himself, he jumped for NIL money at Memphis. Really just irked me given the circumstances with him coming here.

As it is, we ended up upgrading at the position (which is maybe why coaches were fine with him leaving). Anderson has put up some good numbers at Memphis who is 9-2, though unranked. They'll go to some kind of lower tier bowl. Being able to pile up some bigger number against inferior AAC teams will probably earn him a look for the draft, though he's got a lot of mileage on his wheels for a RB. Most importantly for him, I guess, he got a little nest egg from Memphis' FedEx NIL money.

I'd say we haven't really missed him at all and he probably got what he wanted out of the deal.

Did he go for NIL money, or was he told he would likely not be the starter this year?

I've heard both (rumors), and one is more believable. I just don't see Memphis outbidding us.

Not sure. Memphis gets $5 million from FedEx. I could see Memphis being willing to pay more than we were willing to pay, particularly if the coaches knew Sanders was coming in.

My understanding is he wanted more NIL than what was offered and USC held firm. It wasn't necessarily an outbid situation, just one where Carolina wasn't playing games.

See, that i could believe. That sounds like "you're not going to be the featured back, so you're not getting featured back money".

My comment was, apples apples, I don't think Memphis is outbidding us for like positions. Even with that 5 million.

Just because it seemingly worked out all around doesn't mean your bitterness was misplaced. You had reasons for it at the time and seethed in good faith. I wouldn't reproach myself. There will be other opportunities.

The guy that thinks Addaway has shown promise. I think the dropoff from Sanders to him is like the one between Mt. Everest & a random ant mound in your yard.
Oh, hahaha. I don’t know that I’ve ever said that on here before, but I think he’s done some nice things. Hes been able to run in the games Rocket has and hasn’t in the game where we couldn’t get it going. 🤷‍♂️ He’s definitely not as good as Rocket, or probably not MA either, but he’s been the 2nd back for a reason over the other guys on the team.

I would simply wager that game experience/seasoning is why he's number 2. From all accounts Matthew Fuller is the second best RB on the team. I hope we can keep him. I really wanna see him run the ball.

Not trying to pile on here, but I agree about OA. Massive drop-off when he comes in to spell Rocket. And that can’t bode well for the rest of the RB room if no others have really stepped up to be better. I have big concerns about that room for next season . We need a young guy to really step up, or pull another portal miracle.
