So I park in front of Starbucks this evening, when a car pulls into the handicapped space next to me. A young, 20-something woman (hideous, NO. FLAG. o_O ) is in the car by herself. She gets out of the car and walks quickly into Starbucks.

A few seconds later, she comes out of Starbucks with a coffee drink in her hand. *slurp* *slurp* *slurp* as she approaches her car.

By this time, I’ve gotten out of my car. No handicapped plate or hang tag on her car. She gets in her car. Just before I head into Starbucks, I make eye contact with her and tap the handicapped sign three times. Stupid, insensitive, selfish b|tch.

F*ck people.

Ugh.

Hopefully she got your point loud and clear, and didn’t think you were somehow trying to compliment her looks.

There are so, so many reasons to validate this sentiment.

My wife has a disability called Spastic Paraparesis. Her ability to walk is severely compromised. She walks with a walker but for short distances she gets by with a cane. Never have I ever used her disability hang tag when she's not with me. Unfortunately I see many people using the tag that may be assigned for use by another member in their family,

Scavengers and sycophants and flatterers and fools
Pharisees and parasites and hypocrites and ghouls
Calculating swindlers, prevaricating frauds
Perpetrating evil as they roam the earth in hordes
Feeding on their fellow men
Reaping rich rewards
Contaminating everything they see
Corrupting honest me like me
Humbug! Poppycock! Balderdash! Bah!
I hate people! I hate people!
People are despicable creatures
Loathesome inexplicable creatures
Good-for-nothing kickable creatures
I hate people! I abhor them!
When I see the indolent classes
Sitting on their indolent asses
Gulping ale from indolent glasses
I hate people! I detest them! I deplore them!
Fools who have no money spend it
Get in debt then try to end it
Beg me on their knees befriend them
Knowing I have cash to lend them
Soft-hearted me! Hard-working me!
Clean-living, thrifty and kind as can be!
Situations like this are of interest to me
I hate people! I loathe people! I despise and abominate people!
Life is full of cretinous wretches
Earning what their sweatiness fetches
Empty minds whose pettiness stretches
Further than I can see
Little wonder I hate people
And I don't care if they hate me!

Agree - but keep in mind that not all disabilities are visible. My brother was in the terminal stages of multiple myeloma (no walker, cane, limp, etc.- just extreme fatigue and exercise intolerance). He finally relented and used a handicapped tag and was very upset when someone called him out in a parking lot for using a handicapped space when he didn’t have a disability. He died 3 weeks later. So be careful when judging others.

I don’t like hearing the “I hate people” line. It just doesn’t sit well with me. That said, the parking in a handicap spot without a tag is something that makes my blood boil.

And I bet she doesn't use tongs when available.... This generation needs to stop being woke and actually wake the heck up....

I've given up on people misusing handicapped placards. People who frequent the shopping plaza I hit every weekend have taken it to a new level. It's now difficult to drive past the front of the store with all of the cars just pulled up in front and parked in the NO PARKING - FIRE LANE.

I'm pretty sure the same class of people ignore the online order pick-up spots too.

People cheating by parking in handicap places has become rampant. Here in FL the vast majority are elderly people who truly need the spots (although a few do not have the appropriate license plate or hanging tag). When I lived in Ohio, most of the spots were filled, but with mainly able bodied young people using them, many in their low slung sports cars which are notoriously difficult to exit from.

I read an article when living in Ohio about the problem. A lot of younger people were using their grandparents or parents hanging tags, or received a temporary one when recovering from various injuries and then kept them well beyond the expiration. Also, the tags are easy to fake - I wouldn’t be surprised if there are YouTube videos on how to make them. They were careful to use them only in store and other parking lots, but not on the street or municipal parking lots. Store owners are responsible for enforcing the handicap policy in their own lots, but public spots are enforced by law enforcement. No store is going to assign an employee to check for handicap parking violations because someone would have to take the time to see if the hanging tag is still valid and then notify law enforcement. I am sure that checking on possible parking violations in a store parking lot is not a top priority for the local police department.

You could have taken a photo with your phone and sent it to the local police. They would have still been able to issue her a ticket.

I've witnessed the same in Ohio, more than PA. I find that the more I need the parking place on a bad day the more likely I see a big AWD monster of a truck in the best hdcp spot. Sigh.......life goes on. I can walk a bit further fortunately and don't require assistance, yet. I've seen some obviously damaged people trying to walk past the "individuals and ME - lennials" parked and likely illegally but most don't want confrontation. Unenforced laws are not laws at all, just suggestions.

I don't believe that applies in a private parking lot.

Maybe. The handicapped parking falls under the Americans With Disabilities Act, which, at the local level, is enforced by the police.

It never ceases to amaze me the trouble some people will go to all to avoid walking an extra 100 feet.
As I get older and want to remain physically active, I tend to park further away to get in the extra steps. They say once the legs go, its all over. I tend to take the steps all the time too. Had an elderly relative and when they moved from a two story home to a rancher, they could no longer walk up and down steps in the twilight years.

It wasn’t too long after I noticed our pastor routinely parking in the handicap parking spot right beside the sidewalk leading to the church office that we stopped attending church….

I support people assembling to share their faith in a divine God. The problem is when people start believing their pastor is divine.
