It is important for us to continue to support the team regardless of the outcome of the La Tech game. I was there and i will say that the team looked terrible, but there was also no enthusiasm, no energy.
I know many of you will say BAAAA! and call me sheepish, but its important for us to realize that we are 0-1 not 0-12.
These games happen to everyone. App State @ Michigan, ULM @ Alabama, Ark State @ Texas AM.(Many More)
The team is embarresed because they know we should have won. Does this sound wierd? It should because 3 years ago the team would have been happy that the game was a nail bitter. Now, they are beginning to expect more and they just merely overlooked La Tech. Yes, I am embarrased but remember that Michigan beat Florida in the Capitol One bowl last year, Alabama beat Colorado in Shreveport, and i will bet you that Tex A&M goes bowling this year.

I am saying this because the season is not over. I feel the three most important games on our schedule now are coming up. If we are 0-4 then everyone(including myself) will be furious, but if we go into Baton Rouge 3-1 (hell even 2-2) then people will begin to realize that 4 well matched home games remain on the schedule.

Also, to note. Many on here, including myself, had the expectation of this season to just get back to a bowl and become consistant. Yea we had a set back, but is it impossible now? No. So, don't call for coach's head yet because if we have some big wins then La Tech will feel like it was played during the Kyle York era.

Oh don't worry after all of that I do too still have hope. But us losing to La. Tech in the opener is not the same as losing to LSU. And it will take a lot more for this to be ok in mind since this season's expectations are WAY higher than the last 4.

Just my opinion, but I think you'll now be 1-4 heading into your game with Vandy. You'll beat SELA, but you'll definitely lose to LSU in Baton Rouge, and you'll likely be 7-10 point underdogs at least to Auburn and Georgia Tech.

If you can get to the Vandy game at 2-3 and then come back from your trip to Knoxville at 3-4, I would consider it a success, and I'd actually give you a pretty good chance at making a bowl. However, that's going to be tough. If you find yourself at 2-5 after your trip to Knoxville, I doubt you'll see anything better than 5-7 this year.

Let me begin to crucify:

First of all- 3-1!!??? We just lost to <17in'> La Tech and you suddenly think that we have a prayer against Auburn and GT on the road?

I'll tell you what- if we go 3-1 this year, I will call you the smartest poster in the world- EVER.

...are you saying that 3 years ago, we would've been happy to lose a close game to Louisiana Tech? That's bull. Nobody is every going to be happy losing to a WAC school. Ever. That's just crap.

Our support or lack thereof will not be a deciding factor in games. If it were the deciding factor, teams would never win on the road. I feel bad that our team is not being coached-up so that they can be successful. After the positive momentum from last year and the great start to recruiting this year you CANNOT start off with a disastrous loss to a WAC team. It's unacceptable. You want me to support that ********? %@$# you!

We had finally turned the corner and then BAM......right back where we started. Excuse me while I go throw up.

but I'll bet we will find that they are not as good as GT or any of the SEC teams we play this year. I will agree though that we've probably all piled on enough this week and its time to just let it go. If we can somehow hold this season together with at least 5 or 6 wins, we should have one of the best MSU recruiting classes in history coming in next year and that bodes well for the future. Continuing to beat the team up over last weekend and saying derogatory things towards Croom and staff at this stage isn't going to help anything and continuing to do that in mass could likely effect what some recruits might think. So I'm done with any more criticism about the last game. I'm hoping to see something much better this weekend but primarily a week from this weekend. I'm not sure how much looking good against SE LA will mean at this point.

...we just got our asses kicked, pal!

Here's what we have: 3 quarterbacks that didn't show enough in high school for anyone else to offer. An offensive line that's in shambles without the two tackles we were depending on. TE's that have been non-existent thru spring and fall. A DL that can't rush the QB. A LB corps that just lost its anchor. Receivers that are better, but the seniors under perform and the young guys are still learning. Running backs that are at least adequate. Safties that can play with anybody. Corners that are so-so. A kicking game that has moved beyond pitiful into the realm of comical. An offensive coordinator that would have been fired anywhere else by now. A rookie defensive coordinator that seems to be doing a good job of at least picking up where Johnson left off.

Now.. I don't know what you get when you add all that up, but I'm pretty sure it spells bad cess in letters that stretch from here to Seattle.

/it takes talent to work in 2 movie quotes like that

Why accept mediocrity? If I did a mediocre job at work, I sure as hell would hear about it.

The bottom line is we couldn't take care of business when we should have. That is unacceptable. I refuse to keep losing to crap and accepting it "because we are MSU".

As far as the recruits, again that is Croom's job to keep them. It's not because I'm "being a negative Nelly". It's going to take us beating the ever living crap out of SELU to convince me that this team can salvage this season.

If I was Croom I would keep my foot on the pedal LONG after halftime this year.

filled by all the same players except for OT (-Mike Brown + Derrick Sherrod), Center(-Royce + Brignone) and the two Defensive Ends, Tight End.
Same QB, RB's, Guards (not sure about both), DTs, LB ( unfortunately lost chaney, - Oneil + Wright), CB(-Johnson), S, K, P (don't even get me started)
Wide Recievers are improved

I am not trying to argue anything other than this is just about the same team as last year.

Fella, trying to post something reasonable right now on this board is not worth it. Just forget about it and move on.

we lost Mike Brown and will now try to make do with Melichar/Saulsberry, which didn't work out so well last Sat.

we lost Titus Brown/Avery Hannibal and got zero sacks from our front 7. Think that would have happened if we still had Titus?

we lost all our TEs and didn't get the edge blocked at all from what I could see.

we lost Anthony Johnson, whom we can't replace with any of our current players.

Apparently, aside from the talent, we lost our heart as well. Dezmond Sherrod, Titus Brown, Hannibal, Blackeledge wouldn't have tolerated this lackadasical ********.

La Tech did nothing to impress me except capitalize on some of the dumbest decision making that can be made on a football field/sideline. I like to give credit/blame where credit/blame are due and we deserve all the blame. La Tech will not be kicking anyone's *** this year and I havent even looked at their schedule.

(Also's)

I suspect we will improve some and if (over emphasize the "IF" here) we play Auburn and Ga Tech completely mistake free we might (also over emphasizing), might win one game (probably Ga Tech). Croom has to be able to take more and more of the game out of his hands.

I am officially off the Croom bandwagon. I was on it this year completely and will ask to get back on only if we get through UK standing with at least a 5 wins. 6 wins was my line in the sand (and my prediction this season) and now we have to win at least one we werent suppose to based on preseason thinking (as the current thinking is SE LA/MTSU and ten...or somthing like that).

I am going to go for the support the team BS for awhile because I have faith in GB, but if we dont win 6 this year a head must roll.

Last but not least...F you MSU for ruining my college football opening weekend. F YOU.

I supported the damn team through the 1988-1990 seasons and again in 2001-2003. I'm way past "supporting" a ****** team. Give me a team that's halfway worth my time and money to go see play and I'll be there. But I'm not going to keep wasting both by supporting the kind of incompetent ******** I saw last Saturday night. I'll be switching back and forth between the U.S. Open women's final and the Florida-Miami game while we play SE Louisiana.

.....totally giving up. IF this season turns out bad though, as in a losing record, then you can't blame people for wanting some heads to roll in Starkville. Maybe not Sly's, but someone's. A losing record this year is totally inexcusable.

..James Cameron was a fool to kill Hudson before the final 30 minutes of the movie. Involving him in the final battle would have been incredibly sweet.

if you watched the first half our ends were punching through like crazy. Not true for the second half, but the pass rush from the D-line was better than I was expecting given the circumstances.

Were you really expecting Payton Manning under center? The 4 horsemen? What did you see that can't be improved in a week (other than a bad OC, and we already knew that)? We lost because of playing Lee too much (Croom already said that won't happen again), not pounding the rock against a lesser team (can be easily fixed) and HORRIBLE special teams play. On ST we were without our good PR and kickoff man, and our supposed-to-be-pretty-good punter/kickoff man.
So I ask again, what did you see that can't be fixed in a week? I mean fixed as in, having at least a chance to be competitive in almost any game.

We need to try and support the team as much as we can( now that I've calmed down). Croom's job to keep recruits??? we have little or nothing to do with it???(so to speak).
Anybody that thinks recruits don't read the negative, bitching bull ****??...please.
One game does not make a season... ie. in 1981 Bama lost their second game to GA. Tech, and goes 9-2-1. Tech goes 1-10 that year..**** happens..(thanks Bill Curry at GT).
ie. 1977 OM beats Notra Dame, in game one, then wins the national championship. One thing in common, early season, and a lot of turnovers and mistakes...like Tennesse last night.

I just don't think we are as bad as we showed Saturday...hope not anyway.

Don't get the nails, I'm gonna run like hell.

Going to a bowl game does not make a team a good team. La. Tech could go to a bowl game this year and still suck. Memphis last year went 7-5 and made a bowl game out of C-USA though they still lost to an 0-8 SEC team and two Sun Belt teams in the regular season.

They were not a good team, but they went bowling because of their weak conference schedule. If La. Tech goes 9-3 or better this year, then you could argue that they were a pretty good team.
