this is a team that may could make some noise next year. Not our pitchers, but our hitters. Our pitching is screwed for years to come. I realize half of these guys will be gone next year, and that's fine, but if Polk weren't retiring, I think we'd have a chance in every game.

Oh well.

Raffo's on....

Hell with our conditioning program if Polk were still around, state may only have half a roster due to injuries that should/could be avoided....its been the same story every year: we're young and if such and such werent injured....look out

I really cant see State "Stating" it up with the way this cluster 17 of a season has played out

Pitching should be our weakness again, and actually may be worse without Lalor (yeah, I typed that, that's how bad we are), Pigott, and Weatherford- who I'm not expecting to come back. But a new pitching coach should help. The first thing we need to do is put our pitchers in a position where they can best be utilized. I think Bowen needs to go back to the bullpen. He's just not a starter. I don't trust Busby as our closer next year. Crosswhite is probably better in the bullpen as well. Forrest Moore should be ready to be in the rotation next year, and I think Whitney will be in the weekend rotation. Lee Swindle will probably fit in somewhere and Houston will be in the bullpen. Paxton Pace may be the annual "why did Polk RS this guy?" winner. Marquardt is RS, and I'm not sure where he will fit. Then you have about 5-6 true Fr. and we may have to count on at least 3-4 of them to contribute immediately. We need another starter from the JUCO ranks, and someone like Koon and Wesson might do well with new coaches.

Catcher should be in good shape with Freeman, Duffy, and Johnny Allen.

Infield should be in good shape with Tyler Moore- who I think will have a big year next year, Turner, Conner Powers, who will both hopefully be healthy, and Jet Butler, Ryan Powers, and Russ Sneed fighting for the SS position. Jeff Flagg will be back to give 1B depth as well.

Outfield should be OK as well with Ryan Collins hopefully healthy, Hogue, Nappi, Goforth who will probably fit in better with someone who plays more small ball, Hardy, and Luke Adkins from USM who is sitting out this year and might surprise some people next year all coming back.

DH- we should have plenty to choose from.

All this is contingent on transfers, of course.

Yeah, noise like:

"Waaah! The new coach is yelling at me!"

"Waaah! He's making us work too hard!"

"Waaaah! I have a torn ******!"

"Waaah! Coach Croom won't let us get our krunk on!" (no, wait, that's what the football players said when he first came in in 2004).
