Carolina did get left out with 6 wins, and 6 wins isn't a guarantee. My point was that 6 wins isn't that big of an accomplishment in a 12 game schedule. You just have to be mediocre to get to 6 wins. I think with some decent coaching we can be mediocre. We have depth issues at some positions, but if we can keep the QB healthy, we should be able to be mediocre. That's all I'm saying.
The SEC has 8 bowl tie ins. If you win 6 games, you'll be in unless for some reason more than 8 teams win 6 games. And if the SEC gets two BCS bids, which will happen more often with 5 BCS bowls, then there would have to be 10 teams in the SEC with 6 wins or more for someone with 6 wins to get left out. That happened last year, but that's going to be rare, as I think that was the first time it has ever happened since the league expanded to 12 teams. 7 wins is a guarantee, but most years if you go 6-6 in the SEC you will go to a bowl game.
As I said, if Snead is at least serviceable, and if he stays healthy, I see no reason we shouldn't win 6 games next year, whether that means a bowl game or not. You're right that we still have some issues, but I don't think we're anywhere near where your team was in 2004 like you said. Your 2003 team was 2-10, 1-7 in the SEC. You beat Vandy by 9 that year, and your next closest SEC game was a 25 point loss at Kentucky. Your 6 other SEC games were all 30+ point losses. Our team this past year wasn't nearly that bad this past year.
