our friend Jet "oooh, another error" Butler was hitting a cool 9/49......for all you non-McClurians that is a stellar .184 Just my opinion but if he makes to next spring on our roster, I will be amazed. You can't tell me there is not a high school middle infielder out there that could not/would not do a better job.

I will be surprised as well when you also consider that he takes up a pretty nice chunk of scholarship money compared to others.

maybe cohen would have him leaning into a few pitches, dropping some bunts, and doing anything possible to put pressure on the defense (utilizing his speed). i think he could have a breakout year and be a threat on the bases. of course, he could just continue sucking.

where will he play? Hogue and Collins will start in the OF, they are too good not to. I think we'll see Adkins take the next spot. Remember Nappi and Hardy are still there too, if they don't get cut.

Hardy is a terrible hitter as well. Nappi started the year off great but then found "the bottle" to be more appealing. Lets hope he plays this next year like he did the first half of last year

to have a guy on the pine who can cover some ground in the OF and fly around the bases. but his hitting MUST improve.

you're right though about who to start. i think hogue will be even better next year under the new staff. i didn't really follow baseball this year as closely as usual (hmm, i wonder why...), so i'm not sure who to start where. or really even who played well down the stretch. i'm just thinking hogue (and maybe goforth) will improve dramatically under the new coaches.
*edited to add: BUT if he still can't get on base, he's taking up a roster spot that cohen can fill.

ends up at first base, unless he is better than Conner Powers defensively at third base.
