I see our coaching hire going one of two ways.

1) We hire Cohen and a scorned Raffo becomes an aggressive head coach who takes some podunk school to a national championship.

2) We hire Raffo and average 34 wins a year for the next 29 years. Cohen continues his upward climb at Kentucky, gets hired at and wins a dozen national championships.

We're Mississippi State and it is all predetermined. The quicker we learn to accept it, the happier we will all be.

I don't think Raffo will win a NC unless it's the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association NC.

realize he won the SEC...at Kentucky. To me that's like Spurrier winning the ACC at Duke.

I'm not sure I follow.

Here's what I predict. We offer Cohen and he declines. We never really know this part for sure. Then we hire someone besides Raffo, and the MSU baseball program is reborn.

Shouldnt the same "Polks CWS last year was a fluke" line of reasoning, apply to Cohens SEC title as well? Just sayin.

You have to consider what UK has vs what we have. Also consider that there is more baseball talent in Mississippi than Kentucky, despite the fact that Kentucky has a lot more people.

At MSU, it should be fairly easy to attract some pretty decent talent. We have much better facilities, fans, successful players in the Major Leagues, and a much better history.

Also, Cohen has been at UK for only four years. When he took over, UK was without a doubt the worst baseball program in the SEC at that time. After his first season, which you could really see progress despite a losing season, they have had three pretty good seasons for UK. This is probably the most success that they have ever had at UK in baseball.

Now, Cohen has also won at Missouri, a Big 12 (then Big 8) school, and Northwestern State. He also has been a very successful hitting coach at UF. So, it's not like he took over UK and then found some lightning in a bottle.

We'll see how they finish the year.

Cholk hasn't been close to competing for the SEC title in his return to MSU. Can't get a fluke SEC title when you are hovering at or below .500.

.not that I blame him for that, but in Baseball, youcommitt to that and it ends up worse than what JWS ended up with. You end up with a player/s who are in it for one year and poof, gone bab y gone. thats why I am still not sold on JC. And they way ;ast year wound up and this year is looking. I am right. 17-0 agin bugtussel and Hooterville anint that big of an accomplishment. Hey, he may come here and light the worl on fire. If so, I will be the biggest supporter. But, I'm not convinced yet that he could do better than Raffo.

has won one SEC championship in its history. Guess who the coach was?

It's no fluke to take a team that has perennially been the worst team in the strongest baseball league in the country, and in four years win a league championship.

Well, at least he was smart enough to know his recruiting base and find a way to be successful despite it, instead of whine incessantly about the NCAA rules.

He also was smart enough to recruit GOOD JUCO players, whereas Polk and his recruiting guru have failed miserably.

Again, the man is at Kentucky. He's not going to be able to go into a top high school players house and reel in everyone with just the UK name when he took over. He probably won't have to do that at MSU.

I'm having trouble seeing your moving target. OK, so UK flamed out in the NCAA's that year. But, aGAIN, to do what he did at Kentucky is like winning 9 football games at Vandy. It's almost miraculous, especially in just a few years. Plus, he's won at all his other jobs too - it's not like he's had one good year in his career. Plus at Kentucky he's got no resources, no money, no facilities, no homegrown talent to boot. Imagine what he might do with the resources, talent pool, and facilities he'd have at State.

What's your beef with Cohen anyway? Anti-semite? (Joke).

standard be held to the prosecution. My colleague insists that my client should host a regional every year. At the very LEAST win achampionship of some kind. Well, my client DID just that last year..AND has 7 CWS appearances. Did he win it all? No. yet he still got there. Now, my colleagues client won a single SEC outright championship and hosted a regional. where he should hav advanced to a SR on his home field. May I ask the outcome of that your Honor?

And furthermore....the next year, this one, he took his team to #2 in the nation by beating the likes of Buggtussel and Hooterville. Yet, when the REAL competion presented itself. he is dwelling in the cellar of the same conference that my colleague was trumpeting him for winning just 5 minutes ago. Your Honor,,,I call ********!

Talk about revising the facts.

UK is 5-4 in the league. What are we? 2-7.

UK is still ranked 8th. What are we? Not.

Last in the East is still better than anyone in the West. And we are last in the West.

They are 22-4 for God's sake. We are 11-15. You say they beat ****** teams to get to that record? We LOST to ****** teams to get to our record. WE HAVE THE WORST OVERALL RECORD IN THE SEC ---- BY FOUR GAMES!
