Like Coach Cignetti preached, he had to change the mentality of the Indiana fan base. Negativity and poor mouth thinking is what permeated that school.

I believe the same is in the state of Nebraska. The golden Rhule AND the fan base need to bolster up our belief in our team. Debbie Downer attitudes won't cut it.
So I just need to cheer louder at the games? Lol

I'm pissed now but come April my hope will be renewed and against my better judgment, I will start sipping the kool-aid again. And I will still want to believe that next November will be different and we won't collapse if we start 5-1 again.
My buddy gulps the Kool-Aid. He’s a gambler and bets on Nebraska every single week. He’s lost a lot of money the past decade. He always thinks “this year is the year” “this game is the game we turn it around.” I mean, he never learns the lesson

He hasn’t always lost on NU. It’s more about the cover versus a W for gamblers.

I disagree. The fan base could not have been more united when coach Frost was hired. After a certain level of failure, the fans started falling off. Several hung onto the very last day - the receipts exist.

So the coach has to do his part. Frost didn’t, and Rhule failed in his third year miracle. Sorry next year has a tough schedule - but there is no excuse not being able to field a competitive team in year four.

I've been holding back. I've been supportive of Rhule. I think this was a complete rebuild. Not of a team, but of a program.

Today, we signed the #1 safety. I know he's from Nebraska, but still. I guess it's like Ahman Green.

Point is, I am waiting for the execution. It's seems like we're getting great recruiting, portal additions and NIL. It would be nice to make a 16 team playoffs. Bowl games are pretty meaningless.

I hope the wins come this season. It's been a long time since we've had a good season. Anyone else reluctant to chug that Kool-Aid?
No disrespect Boxes. It's Dec 7, 2025, and I have been as down on Nebraska football and Matt Rhule as I have ever been. I'm ready for next year's letdown.

Each season we have progressed in Wins. When was the last time we had back to back winning seasons? Would we all want faster results, ABSOLUTELY! But there has been progress even if you don't want to admit it.
Yes, the Huskers are no longer 5-7, but I believe where they are now just may turn out to be the zenith of Rhule's years at Nebraska. Next year the Huskers are going to be underdogs to Ohio State, Oregon, Indiana, Illinois, Washington and Iowa. In 2027 they play Ohio State, Washington, Wisconsin and Northwestern (on the road), Minnesota, Iowa and Oregon. I don't see a lot of wins that season either. Unlike a lot of my Nebraska friends, (Most of them do not even watch anymore) I watch every second of every game. I hate to see them play poorly. Did the Huskers show any improvement in the 5 losses? I just don't see Rhule and his cronies being competent enough to get the boys to over the hump winning at least 8-9 games a season. Like I have written many times, at least we have the women's volleyball team. Dani has a plan. They play smart, with poise and power.

You are the type of person who will be confused and up in arms when we get blown out four times next year. You will wonder "what happened", "I though we were making progress", "the bottom fell out". When in reality we just played bad teams this year and were able to beat some of them. Can you imagine saying we made progress after getting blown out by a Penn State with an interim coach and back up qb, and a 7 win Iowa team at home.

The main difference between Cignetti and Rhule is that one is a football coach and the other is not.
Rhule can still be successful here.. he still has great recruiting and speaking skills and that's already bearing fruit again.. so I'm trying not to poo poo too hard on Matt. He can get better too, and if he hires the right guys, things will indeed look up. As good as Cignetti? no, but it doesn't mean we can't have an excellent team in the future under Rhule. The ability for the fans to sway the program so easily is indeed a problem for us, we can make this job a living hell on the coaches and players, even though it's not our intention. TO didn't have it all figured out for a long time, until he did. Matt showed some progress from year 1 to year 2, and I think there was some progress this year, until DR got injured. We need to continue to grow, and that comes from going through the adversity.

5 wins to 7 wins to 7 wins does not show progression in wins.
Why did you count the bowl game the second year in your numbers and not wait till we play our bowl game in December. 5 to 6 to 7. Wins keep stacking year after year. Back to back winning seasons first times in almost a decade. Seems like progress to me.

5,6,7 I agree.. curious what we see as 8 winnable games next year?

not in order

Washington home
Indiana home
Maryland home
Ohio State home
Illinois home
Michigan State Away
Oregon Away
Rutgers Away
Iowa Away
Ohio home
Bowling Green home
North Dakota home

it looks possible to get 8, not easy but possible

My problem with Rhule is that he is ill equipped for modern CFB. He’s not willing to accept the fact that you need to adopt a “mercenary” mentality where both players and coaches are a revolving door year to year. If I was NU or Rhule I would have given DR a deadline and if I didn’t hear back we’d move on without him. There’s not much time left till the flood gates of the portal opens.

If NU gets beat in the bowl, their record will be 7-6, just like last year.
Akron and Houston Christian.....c'mon man.

8 is definitely going to be an uphill battle. But I think that next years schedule is going to tell a lot about where Rhule and this team are heading. Already looking forward to next season! Outside of Indiana, Oregon, and OSU all the other games are definitely winnable. Who knows what Indiana looks like though without Mendoza.

We also had a back up True Freshman quarterback, who looked exactly how I thought he would going down stretch. Not to mention losing your two OTs for the season didn't help either. Keep being miserable buddy, here's to hoping your Saturdays get better after after the holidays! Cheers!

Its been 63 years from my first game 1962.

Nebraska Football has been a dominant factor in my life since then. But over the last 5 years I’ve found it easier and easier to enter each game with no expectation. We’re still in Lincoln for all the home games, but the there is waining passion for Nebraska Football amongst the group.

This thread is hilarious

Rhule has 2 years to prove it on the field

Nobody is lining up to buy his happy horseshit any longer
