today. I will quote him: 'For the first time since 1990 I feel like there's testosterone in the program, including the McMahon years. Damn, it feels good to be excited about baseball again. Raffo would have completely sucked the remaining life out of what was left bleeding from an empty nutsack.' this guy has never said anything bad about polk before, but today he said this. 'Somebody needs to get that old man medicated and put him in a straight jacket.'

Does anybody else on here think that perhaps Polk does have some medical issues? His huge ego aside, his erratic behavior and progressively worsening out-of-touch comments seem suspicious to me. Seriously. Could he be displaying early symptoms of something?</p>

...his behavior has been spiraling downward for a year now.

It's just frustration, anger and rage. His obsession with the NCAA, scholarship limits, why the sun shines, why is grass green, why do birds sing, why can't he win the CWS with 4 MLB allstars on the team...............

And it seriously wouldn't surprise me too much to find out he has some kind of brain tumor.

Also talked to a former player today and he said the same. He said Polk has never been to a doctor and most of them think something really is wrong with him.

because he was about as old as his brother or brothers when they died? Or something to that effect?

Also, IF it was clinically proven that Polk had something wrong like dementia or a brain tumor, do you think the fans would forgive him? I know I would.

Absolutely you forgive him if he is sick. But the problem is his consistency in stating how he would respond should Byrne not take his advice. The thing that makes me think restraining order is Polk's comments of wanting to "hurt him" and how he was going to "make his life miserable" for Byrne. It is strictly ego involved and I don't know how he recovers from it.

a brain tumor for 16 years.

No, I don't forgive his neglect of our program for the good of baseball.

he has something of a medical/psychological nature wrong with him. Seriously.

Polk has always been a little odd. But, this stuff is really over the top. Strokes, dementia, you take your pick. I say something is wrong with the guy.

but he looks to me like someone who has no concept of how to deal with someone saying no to him.

.....of this behavior, then absolutely I'd forgive him.

I don't think he's ill though, at least not physically.

He has no allegiance to any school in particular, he tries to keep up with all of them. I read the comments from the paper where Polk said he would make Byrne's life miserable and asked him if he had ever heard of anything like this. His response - "Yep, from someone losing their mind." It made perfect sense to me. Seriously, something is very wrong with Polk. The man has a tumor, he's losing his mind, something. You don't go from being a somewhat level headed guy (except for his unnatural hate for all things NCAA) to saying the things he has said without something being wrong. I hope we're wrong though, I hope Polk is perfectly healthy and is simply overreacting. I'd hate to hear that Polk had something seriously medically wrong with him.

Regardless, someone close to him needs to pull him to the side and explain to him that he is only hurting himself and that people who grew up idolizing him are being forced to turn on him due to his comments and actions.

Is it true that he lived with his mother until she passed away? Heard it from someone at work and was just wondering.

When his mother got too weak to live alone, she moved in with Polk. I think he lived the majority of his adult life alone. Don't know for sure though.
