I think the NY Jets should pursue Lamar Jackson. F Rodgers.

Rodgers will be the same failed experiment they did with Favre regarding winning a SB.

I think Lamar is one of the most talented athletes to ever play the QB position. Why waste time with the Headache Rodgers conjures up almost always.

the issue with these "running QBs" is they have a shelf life. Look at the QBs that held up and played well into early/mid 30s... TB12, Mannings, Rodgers, Rivers, Big Ben. When you have a QB that has designed runs built into the offensive scheme they just don't last long.

Now, I would agree with the statement F Rodgers... the Jets really should have gone after Carr.

Agree with this all the way around, as a Jets fan, I wanted Carr. The organization is so dumb, i knew they would put all of their eggs in Rodgers...who is going to be a disinterested drama queen for 2 years then retire(just like favre). I also agree re Lamar, the reason he isn't getting a big contract with the ravens is the same reason nobody is desperate for him. He is one ACL tear from being a very mediocre QB.

Living in Bmore and watching Lamar I will have to disagree. He has talent but its not so much his arm or his head. His accuracy remains a big problem. His talent lies, mostly, in his escapability and running. That works for now but he's getting to the age where it wont for much longer plus he starting to show some wear.
The caveat to all that is outside of a TE he really hasn't had a whole lot of talent at the WR postions or even OL.
All that being said I like Lamar a hell of a lot more than Rodgers.

Long suffering Jets fan here. If they don't get Rodgers I'll take Jimmy G over Lamar. Both have issues staying healthy, but Jimmy G has a better resume.

And he’s already chronically injury prone at 26. Jackson is a fantastic talent and if he were healthy for every game, a true franchise altering talent. But he hasn’t been and the track record for running QBs as they age is bad. Factor in that Jackson wants a fully guaranteed deal and I’ll take a hard pass.

Jets fan here. Team just had its best draft in recent memory, and the defense improved dramatically. Still, they're not a QB away from taking on KC, Cincy, LA Chargers in the AFC. The biggest "Same Old Jets" move is for a desperate GM to give away tons of draft capital to sign an injury prone Jackson or an over-the-hill Rodgers who could retire at any moment.

Go get a stopgap veteran (Brissett, Mariota, Minshew), draft an OT in round 1, see if Hendon Hooker is there in R2, or get a C/LB/WR in rounds 2-4 and see if you can get a QB in the later rounds to compete.

F the Jets. But I like the idea of going after Jackson. He'll fail and the Jets will expend too much draft capital and cap space and be mired in mediocrity for at least another decade.

Lost in this is what a complete bust Zack Wilson has been. It never ceases to amaze me how so many NFL teams consistently convince themselves that some flawed QB is going to be the savior. Wilson, Trubisky, Lance, Mayfield, Donald.... the list seems endless. These guys were not just 1st round picks, they were very high 1st round.

I think Favre played one with the Jets and two with the Vikings

Along those same lines, Montana played two with the Chiefs, Namath played one with the Rams, and Unitas played one (OK, 5 games) with the Chargers.

Maybe the Jet's don't want to give up 2 first rounds picks and give a oft injured QB a 230 million guaranteed contract. Raven's did the right thing for them let the market set his price and if the want to match it they can.

Jackson has won exactly 1 playoff game in his career and he has missed significant time the last two years with injuries. Overrated. As a Steelers fan, I genuinely hope the Ravens give him a gigantic long term deal. Unfortunately, I think after they made that mistake with Flacco, they aren’t going to make that mistake again.

Isn’t their OL one of the better ones in the league?

It was kind of good or bad depending if Ronnie Stanley was playing or not. Lindenbaum at Center was good but missed time. IMO it was ranked higher than they played and the 2022 version was definitely better than the 2021 version. I think Stanley missed that entire year or most of it.

Are you a Jets fan? Then you want Rogers 100 times out of 100. What headaches does Rodgers bring? Winning?

Jackson is a poor passer and his career is likely close to over…he can not stay on the field. Once his legs are done (and they may be), he will be done as a QB.

And Farve darn near won an MVP in the first season with the Vikes!

He is but as you can see over the last few years he does get injured and misses games. He is a better thrower than most give credit for, even with the funky arm angle, but he will be less effective as his legs regress
Not sure he was really “injured at the end of this season.

That rumor had some play on local sports radio and they (Ravens) were very tight lipped about it but Lamar not even going to the last game did not help.

I think the Ravens finally had enough and told him to stay home.

Gfys let me guess your a patriots fan
A J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets fan. Bless your long-suffering heart. May it continue for fifty more years.

Not a New England fan, but if I were the J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS would be my second favorite team. Nothing like two guaranteed wins on the schedule. Fourteen in a row, baby!

Seeing what Tom Brady did for Tampa Bay, it's difficult to discount the value that a veteran QB can provide to a team. Rodgers could be just what the doctor ordered for the Jets.

Dig into third statistics a little deeper. He has plenty of metrics that show his passing among the lowest in NFL.

And he can’t stay on the field.

Heck, his own team does not even seem to want him. No one else seems to be beating down their door either.

If he was a great QB, two 1st Round picks would be chump change to spend to get him!

You know that's not the issue. The Browns totally screwed up the market with what they gave Watson and now the other teams aren't willing to be as dumb as the Browns by giving Lamar a similar deal. It's not collusion when it's not good business.

Lamar's numbers don't lie, but in no way would I want him on the Steelers for what he's asking. They just dumped Ben's contract that limited what kind of team they could put behind him. I also think the Pickett experiment is going to fail, especially with Canada calling plays.
