Since the college football national championship games started, how many times has there been a championship game played without at least one SEC team in it?

Only once since 2005: 2014 (first CFP)

1998-2005 the SEC only appeared in 2 championship games.

So 7 times in 24 years.

In all 8 years of the CFP at least one SEC team has made the playoffs (final 4). The SEC has been in the championship game all but one year (2014). Alabama has been in Championship game 6 out of 8 years.

Ohio State-Oregon is the only one since the famous USC-Texas game with Vince Young.

And only once in the last 16 years. Wow. That is domination. Amazing to me that we are at least sometimes competitive in such a tough neighborhood.
