This is a good point. Lane is basically a home run hire for Auburn. The only comparable name right now would be Freeze, who obviously comes with a lot of baggage and may cause friction with the conference. If Lane wasn't basically locked down, Cohen would be crazy to not try to get some other names out or to poo poo the lane rumors so that he doesn't have a damn revolt when he hires somebody that's not Lane.

For Cohen's sake, unless he has a huge name that people will like as much as Lane (and I'm not sure who that would be; Freeze or Rhule?), I hope he has Lane more or less locked down.
