If this bill passes it may finally make the NCAA go away

The NCAA is inept, incompetent, etc. But does the government have the authority to dictate to a private organization how their disciplinary process must be applied to the members?

It depends in how many $100's of millions of gov't dollars are spent to build the stadiums? And is the NCAA a private org?

Sure they can. They are the highest form of legal enforcement in the United States. The NCAA is an entity that is within the United States, and I would imagine the DOJ can use anti-trust laws as the springboard for legal action against an entity in the United States.

By the way, your thread title is not accurate, based on the twitter link you provided. I don't think the NCAA "goes away". A better governing process vis a vis the infractions process would be the goal, but that would not make the NCAA go away. Even if it's not "NCAA" as we know it now, there will have to be some governing body to oversee intercollegiate athletics. Whether it would be better or worse would remain to be seen. And that governing body would have it's own issues and problems.

The NCAA is a private organization and its members receive billions of dollars from the Federal government, so I think they'll pay attention. After all, they don't have Donnie Remy to advise them to sue the Feds,

You really that ignorant, Amos? No answer needed.
For the record and this is the last time I reply to you , ignorant uh no there are several ways to get money , you might not know that Also my name is not Amos , not sure where that came from , maybe a fantasy for you ??
Penn State takes money in several ways as I stated , That is why I asked what I asked , But again you may not know that

Try a little civility You remind me of someone I know very well who's sarcasm exceeds their ignorance

The BIG are all major research schools and the Feds are probably the biggest source of funds for research on every category you can imagine. The money comes in thru various grants and contracts. PSU has a long relationship with the US Navy and years ago PSU had a T-1 line into a Navy lab which I would guess is still there and most likely upgraded substantially.

I was aware of some of the grants but unsure If that was still being done , Was not aware of the Navy arrangement , I do know that there was a nuclear reactor under the swimming pool at one time but not sure If that was still there. Also other branches of the military in the past had projects still being researched , just again didn't know If it was still going on Thanks Delco
