If UCF can do it, why can’t we?

Gus is a very experience coach at the highest level and likely used to firing coaches, even if the coach is a close friend. Lebby is a young, first year HC and may not be comfortable firing a friend. The time to fire him would have been the bye week, when that didn't happen, I assumed he be safe for the rest of the season.

Hopefully this will make it easier for them to see it can be done and to make it happen.

Has to be something behind the scenes...

All just a guess.. but maybe there isnt anyone on staff that is capable or willing to take on this mess. I mean does someone want to put their name on the defense???

Or maybe recruit wise hes got some good relationship with kids that we are trying to land.

I mean at this point 2-10 is a given. So there has got to be some legit reason to let it ride 4 more games.

How is 2-10 a given? It's not at all.

I've done been that route too many times. Tulane '03, Maine '04, Troy State '01. Not saying State isn't the favorite, but they are going to have to earn it.
losses to toledo and umass in the same year... going winless and being embarrassed in the sec... and losing 11 straight games to close the year.

That'd be enough for me to fire the staff and see if the local high school staff wanted a shot.

What's the significant difference between 1-11 & 2-10? I just don't see it.
Have you seen Umass. They are one of the top 5 or top 10 worst programs in the country. They havent beaten a major college this year.

Toledo was embarrassing. I dont give lebby a pass for that, but UMASS is an entirely diffferent animal. Its bigger than 2-10 and 1-11... losing to umass would likely be the low point in MSU football history or dang close to it.

Neither have we. They also have twice as many wins as us. I hope we can beat them and cover the spread.

Don’t forget, we played UMass in two consecutive years in the Mullen era and were trailing at halftime in both games. They’re not going to be a pushover.

dear God. They've been ranked literally as the 2nd and 3rd worst program in the last 4 seasons.

Mizzou beat them 45-3, Auburn beat them last year 59-14.

Since covid they are 2-37 vs Major Conference schools with their wins coming against New mexico State and UConn.

Losing to them, plus toledo, plus going 1-11, is rock bottom for us as a program

What all the 'muh improvement' folks don't understand is that the schedule has been a grind. We've been 'up' for the big SEC games and 'down' for the ones we can actually win. I am genuinely curious which team shows up Saturday. We absolutely can lose. I don't think we will. It'll probably be a 7-10 point win where we don't really learn anything, just leaves you more frustrated.

We are already at rock bottom. Losing to UMass would be the basement under rock bottom.
Toledo isn't as bad as most thought at the beginning of the year.
UMass and State are now known disasters with UMass being significantly worse.
So, 1-11 would be significantly different from 2-10.
