If White is let go at season’s end who would you like to see as DC?

Although we went into safe mode near games end, I saw some good, creative play calling from DLogg and think his hire may have been a good one. He has fostered great improvement from Rattler and think he will do the same for Sellers. QB recruits have also shown great respect for his coaching style. Hoping Beamer has a current list for a new DC, LB and DB coaches and will make another good hire.

Beamer has to let White go first. Beamer is too loyal and slow to pull the trigger (see Satt) .

He's a head coach now, so he's out of reach, but the defensive coordinator that I thought was the best as far as philosophy meets results was Don Brown who is now the head coach at UMass, he let's his players really go after opposing offenses(pressure/blitz) which is when our defenses were historically at their best. He shows opposing offenses things that confuses them no end yet is simplified for his defensive players where they take ownership and go make plays. Amazing thing to me was back in 2015 he was the DC on a Boston College team that was 3-9 with little to no talent and still had their defense finish #1 in the nation.

I agree here. The OL is improving, running game improving. The O and D are going in much different directions.

Money talks. Dabo did it after their thrashing in the Orange Bowl and totally changed the fortunes of their program.
And he went for DEFENSE.
Stop the opponent's offense and you can win most games with an efficient ball control offense scoring minimal points.

Nobody that we Will go after. We get these head coaches thAt are scared to go after the proven names. I promise it will be someone you never thought of. Someone that never coached an SEC defense
You sir, are probably right!! 🤔

Yes it does, with that said, what indicators from the past give any expectation that the money belt will now be wide open.

History is not positive here.

We just have to decide if we really want to win or if we’re going to embrace the lovable loser status.

Dabo’s decision resulted in 2 titles.

Don’t necessarily know about any names right now, but I want to see more intensity. I was to see a defense that flies to the ball. We don’t really seem to operate with any urgency. No fire.

It must be someone who is currently a successful DC at the P5 level. Pay what we must.

That'll be a tough one. If someone is successful at the P5 level, they can probably get a better gig than what we'll offer them. We'll probably have to go G5 for proven success. When you think about how lucky Clem was that OU completely bungled the situation with Venables just to give Bob's brother a job, it's sickening. So, we should look for an elite DC who works for a HC that also has a brother who wants to be DC, and that HC moronically gives the DC job to his brother, and makes the elite DC a Co-DC. That should narrow things down a bit.

I suppose. I just don't want anymore wildcard hires. For once, I want a hire that when people see it, the uniform response is "well, that makes sense."

Chris Hampton is probably the best chance to fit that bill. Spent 3 years at Tulane, and beat SoCal in a bowl last year. Currently Co-DC at Oregon. Trav coached DL under him at Tulane. Seems like a no brainer in terms of how Beamer is trying to build things here. Kind of feels like if we're going to ever land him we need to take our shot now. He's ascended in the profession over the last several years.

Looks like a great choice. He currently makes $800,000/yr, so we can top that (and combined with a lower cost of living).

Your right. We should blame the head coach now as well
I don't disagree. Beamer needs to wear it. But just like at OC, he needs to show he can correct it. Will he? Who knows. But I'd hate to see a promising start to his career derailed b/c he's afraid to pull the trigger on an assistant.
