And you are surprised, you only have yourself to blame.
This IS Gamecock football.
You don't need 107.5 or GC central to tell you we should be good this year or any year.
I've told everyone before this game that this is Gamecock football, barely beat an inferior opponent you should beat by 50.
Do we fire Beamer? I could care less because nothing will change.
I will always pull for my Gamecocks but they will only surprise me when they play well.

We hired on the "cheap". Beamer got lucky that Tennessee did not take us seriously in 2022 and Clemson's QB imploded against us. He parlayed those 2 wins into life-changing money. The hiring authorities just don't seem to be serious about football. How else can the Beamer and Muschamp hires be explained? Frankly I'm about to give up on football. I feel very sorry for those in their 40s and under, that they are going to have to put up with that mess for decades.

I was against the hire. But I tried to be optimistic. Deep down, I know he is over his head. But I am not sure that the hiring authorities at USC have the cahoonas to admit their mistake and make a change for the good of the program. And when I say the "hiring authorities", I mean more than just Tanner.

I mean, it's clear from this game that he simply cannot coach, right?

I suppose we can't fire him after one game, but the writing is surely on the wall at this point. This game a strong beginning of the end feel to it.
I wholeheartedly agree. I'm no "Einstein". My intelligence is just average. But the people who run this university must surely see what the rest of us see, Beamer is a "boy" in a man's job. PERIOD!!!!

I am only 42, so but a fan my whole life.

This is on the fans. We gave money and support for horrible teams for years/decades. The administration learned that the money will come in win or lose.

People stopped giving due to Muschamp, but gave again when they got excited about Beamer. They hoped Beamer would be that winner they have waited for so long.

We need to only give, when they give us a winner as that is the only way we will get a winner. That will never happen, so it will be the same year in, year out.

We do not hire well. Glad we had Lou and Steve for the time we did. We got some good years from them. But they were past their prime. Their hires were short-term answers. Then when we finally decided to hire young guys, Muschamp and Beamer, one had already proven that being a Head Coach was over his head. The other had never been even an OC nor DC, much less a proven Head Coach. Who makes these crazy hiring decisions? It's as if they want to sabotage football on purpose.

They hired young, proven winners in womens and mens basketball. Why can't they do that in football?

I was excited when he came and brought Rattler with him. It seems Rattler was the best person we got from Oklahoma. Hate it, but based on what I saw today Beamer is done
I think it was the TE that convinced Rattler to come here. And he didn't "bring" him with. I remember Zeb. But I was surprised when he came back for a second year.

Suppose we could make a move on Liberty’s coach. Or Brent Key.

We have never had any decent success hiring someone who had never been a Head Coach (Bell, Woods Scott). The only football hires we have ever had decent success with are those who had previous success as Head Coaches at the FBS level (Dietzel, Carlen, Morrison, Holtz and Spurrier).

Brent Key would be an interesting hire. His background is similar to Jim Carlen's, one of my favorite Gamecock football coaches ever, maybe my favorite. Both graduates of Georgia Tech who played on the offensive line. Carlen was screwed by Jim Holderman. But, he was a damn good football coach and a solid recruiter (he recruited George Rogers). We could do a lot, lot worse than Brent Key. If Carlen had been left alone, we would have probably been successful in football into this century.

Woods was the head coach at App St. when we hired him. He was ready to move up but he brought his entire staff with him and they were definitely not ready.

And App. State, when he was there, was not a FBS school. Whatever is below FBS, was what App. State was when Sparky coached there.

There was no such thing as FCS or FBS. it was Div-1A and Div-1AA or something. I thought App St was the next lower level. Like Western Carolina level. Or GA Southern. What was Furman?

He may be like his Dad if you give him enough time. VT kept his Dad around regardless of his record for many, many years.

Oh, OK. When we hired Woods from App. State, they competed in the Southern Conference with Furman, which was Division 1-AA. Today, App State competes in the Sun Belt Conference (FBS), Division 1-A, which is where they competed when Missouri hired Eli Drinkwitz. Furman remains in the Southern Conference and in the old !-AA, today known as the FCS level.

His Dad inherited a program that was put on probation with a reduction in scholarships. Apples and oranges. I watched Frank Beamer's teams numerous times. Even when they lost, I never saw a poorly coached team. I cannot say the same for a Shane Beamer team, certainly not last night.

I’m not saying Sparky was a great coach but remember he came in when we joined the SEC.
