I'll admit it readily, I have watched less than 1 minute of MSU basketball this year,

I watched about the same amount last year and will watch the same amount or less next year. Quick question, have we lost a game all year that we actually got beat by the other team or have all of our losses been because of the officiating because during and after every game we lose I always see on here that its ALWAYS because the officials sucked? Is it that blatant and obvious?

What an odd flex. You came to a MSU message board to brag about not watching MSU play.

Gonna be honest, I didn’t have SPS dividing into sects of ‘17 basketball’ and ‘17 baseball’ on my 2023 bingo card.
I’ll get into baseball eventually but I don’t give a rat’s behind about nonconference baseball series when basketball is making a run at the NCAA Tournament.

I watched more basketball this year than anytime since the Stansbury era ended. This was a fun team to watch, they TRIED. Yes, the inability to make 3's, free throws, and finish at the rim was maddening but our defense was cold. I'm still pleased with where we sit today.

Looks like we have a keeper with Jans.

I don't like the game of basketball, never have never will but I read enough to keep up with whats going on with the team. I've seen all season that we were young, we can't shoot free throws, we can't shoot 3 pointers, BUT every game its the same, the officals sucked. I posted to ask a question which I did. You all must be the ones blaming the officials since none have answered the original question.

You’ve already drawn your conclusion. Watch the games if you really want to know.

There's a certain segment of literally every fanbase who think the refs are out to screw them. We certainly have our fair share.

Yes we’re the only fan base in sports that blames the officials

Of course we got beaten by teams better than us. But the crappiness of college basketball officiating across the board is well known. It's no surprise people will gripe about it--legitimately or not.

Who the 17 was saying we are young? Our team is old as 17.

In our main rotation, we had...
- 5th year senior in Tolu
- 3rd year junior in Moore
- 4th year senior in Jeffries
- 4th year senior in Davis
- 3rd year junior in Matthews
- 5th year grad transfer in Stevenson
- 5th year grad transfer in Reed Jr
- 5th year senior(grad transfer?) in McNair Jr
- 1st year freshman in Jones.

The average years of experience was 3.88 for that group. We had 5 seniors or grad students.
Young? Thats the last thing that comes to mind.

Alabama and TN at the time we played them was just that much better. The players worked HARD most of those games. We should have beaten by Georgia. A good percentage of the other games we got 17ed by the refs. Go back and watch if you don’t believe me😆

Well I think we shot 7 free throws all game, so you tell me whether or not the officials sucked.

Hint: They were letting Pitt get away with murder.

The “let me tell everyone I don’t watch something flex” list.
Sub genres include but not limited to:
“”I don’t watch [insert professional sport]”
“ I don’t watch [insert sport]”
“I don’t watch wrestling, it’s fake.”
Etc etc.
Oh thanks. Glad to be a part of the list. I do want MSU to succeed in sports I'm not interested in. I'm just not watching. Football is basically the only team sport I watch. Btw.....you can always put me on your ignore list.

Matthews, Reed, Stevenson, Jones, Murphy, McNair shot a combined 20% in a game that really mattered. What the hell were they thinking? They were not thinking is the problem.

Moore drew 2 charges I think, but we got out-smarted with the "draw the foul" stuff that older savvy basketball players should know.

And if you don't think that ONE POINT MATTERS... that you can just free ball it, shooting random crap like we did, and then throw up a 3 to win it, just look at the final score.

We need to learn to play much much smarter instead of just tough D. Maddening to see in a tourney setting.

Some Bama friends introduced me to the term FOGs (footbally-only Gumps). For the record, my friends are alumns and faithfully support every sport on campus.

I'm surprised, but I guess there are actual FOBs and BOBs out there.

We missed a shot at the end, not a referee. And we barely missed a put back before the buzzer ran out. Blaming it on the referees is ridiculous. They don't go in there intending to give one team an advantage. They did a ****** job of making a foul the same for both teams.

Maybe it was because they were expecting the Southeastern conference team to come in and use their "physicality," so they were paying much more attention to our play than they were watching Pittsburgh. We were not subtle with the physical way we played, and I think it took all their attention away from the rest of the game. I hope the rest of our conference teams were watching last night that way they won't be surprised. That goes for the big 12 as well.

I don't think they called a very even game. You expect a foul to be the same on both ends. That's all you can ask for.

BTW... Pittsburgh needs to thank their coach when he made them use their last foul before Moore's three before it went through the hoop.

damn, you've missed some good hoops. We grinded it out without good shooters. Totally got beat by Bama and TN.
Lost a good close game at Vandy and Mizzo. Cold shooting at Auburn.

I will add some anecdotal crap to this. Today, a regular customer came in store and says "awe man, I was rooting for mississippi state last night, but darn those refs weren't helping in the least".

I've never talked to him about any games, he just knows from the store decorations.

...and last night was akin to baseball playing at arky and the ump busy calling strikes when arky's pitcher throws 3 inches off the plate.

Yes, I've never seen a better use of final foul. EVER! I'm practically deaf, so I didn't hear the whistle and thought Jans had called a TO.

But our guys got roughed up in that game in a big way and fouls weren't called and then it seemed like every ticky-tac touch we might have made on them drew a whistle. I'd imagine any fan base that experienced what we did watching that game would be more than mildly upset with the officiating. Unfortunately, our fanbase is use to that type of Dick-Pace screw job.

Missed calls happen every game. But the Pitt shooter blatantly tripping Matthews after the shot is bush league crap, and should be easy to catch. Happened at least 3 times.
