So I thought I'd throw out a question:

Who is the smartest coach in Mississippi?

Why?

I was going to ask for the smartest politician, but I didn't want to piss anybody off. I was going to exclude HB, since so many would automatically name him.

I've been following the election now that basketball's over. I've heard we have a baseball team, but evidence is scant.

cause he always told me if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. If you're talking on the field/court/diamond smart, I'm not terribly impressed with any of the D-I coaches in MS. Stans is ok, Bianco's pretty good, I guess USM's baseball coach is pretty good, & Nutt's had a few excellent games (@ UPig of course). Nutt may have cost us a chance at the SEC-W in 2000 by canning their other co-DC & letting Thompson call the D. Had we coasted in that game (which we probably would have if UPig played D like they did against UT the week prior), Mario & Pig(?) might have been healthy for UM.

Based on my limited knowledge, I reckon I'd go with Kinnison at DSU.

Yes, Pig got hurt in that game. I remember every detail of the game, even though I was freezing my balls off from being drenched by freezing rain/sleet.

However, it was still a miserable day. UAT lost to Aub (clinching the West for them) & it looked as if the Rebs were going to beat UGA. I got sick of listening to the UM-UGA game and spent the rest of my ride home listening about hanging chads.

this ain't 4A. it ain't 3A. and it sure the <17> ain't MRA. this is 5A football.

sorry for yelling in the subject line, but that's my favorite mike justice quote. i remember him dogcussing everyone on the team after getting beat by amory in 95 (?), the year they were unbelievable. they were 3A, so even though they were a top 25 national team, we should've beaten them easily, because we play 5A football.

i don't really know who i would vote for as smartest coach in mississippi...

(referring to a player from another team): If he calls you a pie eatin' SOB, you ask him what flavor. Justice had a good eye for finding a good situation to move into. We got out of the Tri-Lakes the year he came (Lafayette, Senatobia, etc.) & moved down to the Pontotoc Ridge (N & S Pontotoc, etc.). Also, my age group, the one above us, & the two below us were some of the best FB players to come through school in several years. He walked into the perfect situation to win. He also had some outstanding assistants.

Hands down, not even close. Rings at multiple schools in multiple states. Never transitioned to college because he loved the high school game, but had standing offers.

when he told Joe Gant of Weir- "1A should have a 1A size trophy, those are way too big for you."

Gant looked like he was going to spontaneously explode.

God knows how many times I heard him say "Fellers, this ain't just about football, this is about liiife."

I also heard him complaining about the schedule one time saying, "Now who the <17> wants to play Jim Hill?"

I head the 5A Footbaw quote numerous times as well.

He had a very scientific way of not combusting. It was called winning. Well, that and having a favorite white boy to yell at.

AA - was a favorite
