by a certain directive by HD6. I notice that the graphics get bigger and the attitude is even bigger.

I have no horse in this race....but I don't like the thought of someone stuffing their posts with "protected" text and graphics. Remember the 3rd grade when the teacher's favorite would turn and stick her tongue at the rest of the class while the teacher praised her math scratchings? I do.....and I have that same feeling now.

...the political ******** is ruining this board.

Fact 1: 99% of the posters on this board are going to always vote for the Republican. Always have and always will. Nothing is going to change that.

Fact 2: The other 1% on this board will either vote for Obama or another candidate.

Fact 3: This is a Miss. State sports board. I don't give a flying 17 what your political preference is. In fact, considering the part of the country you live in, your socio-economic status & where you went to HS or college, I can pretty much figure out your political philosophy without you hitting me over the head with it.

If you like McCain, I don't give a sh*t. That has nothing to do with MSU sports. If you are going to vote for McCain as a protest vote against Obama, I don't give a sh*t. This is a sports board; go to one of the 100,000 political blogs & run your smack there. If you love Obama & want to vote for Obama, who gives a freak. This is a MSU sports board; don't bring that here.

I only care about your take on the 50 yd. field goal in the Auburn game, or the missed tackle in the Alabama game. (Hypothetical examples).

Or gossip about Ron Polk's latest meltdown.

Even coach34's ramblings have merit here as long as the topic is sports.

People here have begun to use political framings & Limbaugh-esque zingers in order to win sports arguments, and it is taking this board down the crapper. That's one reason I never post here anymore.

is it's a signature. How can you not overlook it unless it takes up the whole screen? I pay zero attention to anyone's signature. Against my better judgement, I am going to debate this topic.

And Ronny, I say thank you for deciding not to post here anymore.

if someone has a pic/graphic/projected electoral map for sig, my eye is always drawn to it and I find them all annoying. Plus it makes it take longer to scroll through the thread.

or overlook the entire post. I don't care if politics are allowed or not, I agree it would probably be better without them but I just ignore it or the poster altogether.

is to disable signatures altogether. You are basically saying anyone who has a picture is annoying.

It is annoying when someone sig is longer than their post, especially when the thread has digressed into one or two word banter.

As for content, I don't care. I read the new ones once or twice before I become accustom to them and can skip right over them. There are only 66 days until the election, so I can live with political sigs until then, but I would hope that those with political sigs will appreciate the latitude granted to them by the admins and not push their luck.

If the signature is text only, I tend to do what you do.... overlook it. I just don't bother reading it. Pictures, however, tend to draw my eyes to the signature. It's hard to overlook those.

That said, it shouldn't be too difficult for a mature and reasonable person NOT to respond to it. However, the majority of posters on message boards aren't mature and reasonable, or at least most don't act that way in the anonymity that a message board affords. And nothing hijacks an otherwise good sports discussion like politics or religion, as we've seen lately. So, it's pretty reasonable to assume that not everybody is going to be mature. So if you don't want threads to devolve into political debates, then it seems it would be best to simply not allow political signatures. All it takes is one person to respond and the thread is ruined.

that you that you can't look past a signature, you should probably stop posting anyway. Seriously, grow the *!$# up.We've got a guy with a sig showing poll data, and we've got a guy with a sig showing a dog pissing on an Obama sign. Does it really matter? There are people out there who think differently than you. Get the *!$# over it. If seeing a pro-Obama sig really fires you up that much, then you have issues.

on a sports message board. Does that mean I have issues? I personally don`t think this is the place for it and I think most feel the same way. Edited : Sorry trying to respond to Faust.

won't make a political argument, but don't assume that everyone agrees with you. It takes all kinds to make a world. Deal with it.

normal people make a "best of" website of their very own message board posts.
