with mega conferences it is very hard for the leagues to make sure schedules are balanced so the weaker teams play the same level of schedule as the top teams. A team like Rutgers winds up avoiding Oregon, OSU, UMich, PSU and Iowa. Meanwhile OSU is playing at Oregon, at PSU and has UMich and Iowa on schedule. Indiana is improved but their schedule was made backloaded for momentum and they only play 4 away games - how does that happen? scheduling office has to keep schedules balanced.

Then the 12 team playoff increases the chance of teams with good records but weak schedules to back into the CFP. The weaker conferences could wind up getting multiple teams in based on records. when they announced the 12 team CFB we all thought it would be the BEST 12 teams, but that is far from a given.

yes and the conferences have the incentive of sending their best team and then the most teams possible. 3+ teams in is a huge win for the conference. 3 teams is likely for B1G or SEC 4 is possible.
