Preseason All SEC teams are out. On first team defense; Georgia has 6 players, LSU has 3 and Bama has 2. Gamecocks have 1 player on third team defense, Hemingway.

On Offense it is more balanced but Georgia still has 5 on the first team and LSU has 3, Bama, Ole Miss and Arkansas have one each. Gamecocks have Wells on second team and Knox on third.

I know preseason lists and accolades aren't worth much but it sure doesn't look like there is a whole lot of parity in terms of perceived talent.

The only consolation about that is that Beamer has overachieved in each of his 2 years here. IF he continues to do that, he will be able to recruit better and those pre-season numbers will change for the good in the future.

Disturbingly, all the air has gone out of our recruiting balloon the last couple of weeks. Very disturbing to see the kid announce for Penn State yesterday. It's getting to be a trend.

Shane is going to have to put together a legit 9 win season, maybe a couple of them in a row, to get recruits to really notice the gamecocks. USC doesn't have the historic gravitas as a program to put it top of mind for recruits who didn't grow up paying attention to USC football.
