The iconic hamburger chain announces that it will be opening up a new corporate hub and restaurants in Tennessee.

WhataBurger just entered TN and they are scouting Greenville SC for a location. It's a Buc-ee's move. I'd like to see WhataBurger pull the same thing.
I got hooked on Whataburger during a trip to Dallas several years back.I like I-N-Out and Whataburger. Been ages since I had the chance to have either.
Both will do some significant damage to the current east coast chain burger business!I got hooked on Whataburger during a trip to Dallas several years back.
Let the strong survive. Both will do some significant damage to the current east coast chain burger business!
I vaguely recall a place called "Whataburger" in either Augusta or North Augusta decades ago -- no idea what happened to it. I would definitely like the Texas one to come east though! It's a Buc-ee's move. I'd like to see WhataBurger pull the same thing.
Awesome first job for many kids in high school. I don't get the raves about the food, but I do like the consistent quality and service. Before Chick-fil-a it had no competition in the area of service in the fast food category, IMHO.![]()

They used to have a Whataburger in Starke, Florida. I don't know if it's still there. I would pass it on the way to see my Grandparents in St. Petes before they passed.I vaguely recall a place called "Whataburger" in either Augusta or North Augusta decades ago -- no idea what happened to it. I have known of other burger places that have used a version of that name, but the Texas (San Antonio-based, I believe) Whataburger is inimitable. It's terrific. Whataburger has locations in 10 states, but aren't that numerous outside of Texas.I vaguely recall a place called "Whataburger" in either Augusta or North Augusta decades ago -- no idea what happened to it. Did they bring out a tray of condiments to your table once you were seated?I grabbed Whataburger in Oklahoma on a visit out there and wasn't impressed. Just a typical overpriced fast-food burger. It wasn't bad, just wasn't special.
I know of east locations in Birmingham and Pensacola for Whataburger. It's a Buc-ee's move. I'd like to see WhataBurger pull the same thing.
Went through the drive thruDid they bring out a tray of condiments to your table once you were seated?
I've never eaten at a Whataburger, but I really don't know how a fast food burger place could be "special." Seems like there's only so much you can do with burgers and fries. Nonetheless, I like the idea of having another option to work into the rotation.I grabbed Whataburger in Oklahoma on a visit out there and wasn't impressed. Good point, I've never had a special fast food burger before. I think that is generally true. But, I will say the Chick Fil As in Kalispell, MT and Idaho Falls, ID handle a double cork-screw drive-thru line that wraps around the shopping center just as wizardly as the ones in the south.Never been, so I can't talk much about it.
It's just my experience, though, when these iconic places expand and get geographically further away from their origin, it's never the same.
They are masters of efficiency for sure.I think that is generally true. But, I will say the Chick Fil As in Kalispell, MT and Idaho Falls, ID handle a double cork-screw drive-thru line that wraps around the shopping center just as wizardly as the ones in the south. It's the one restaurant that seems to defy all of the usual assumptions.
Oh, you didn't get the "treatment", then.Went through the drive thru
Sounds like Greenwood. They are masters of efficiency for sure.
One town over from where I live there is a Chickfila that could never keep up. Even with modifying the drive thru, the line always backed into the road. So they built a much larger one on the opposite side of the road exactly 1 mile away. But they didn't close the other one. So there are two Chickfila restaurants exactly 1 mile apart. on the same road and they are both always busy.
I agree. I was not impressed at all.If you've never had it then prepare to be underwhelmed. The worst fries hands down.
WHY, for the love of all things holy, are the people who make CFAs so efficient not running EVERYTHING? I mean really. Can we get some of those folks in DC to straighten it out?I think that is generally true. Worse than 5-Guys extra large bag of greasy potato strips? If you've never had it then prepare to be underwhelmed. The worst fries hands down.
I've eaten at all the above in my travels...NOBODY CAN BEAT PAL'SIn-N-Out=Five Guys
What-a-Burger=Bessingers/Melvins
Just my opinion
I may be weird for thinking this, but in my experience fresh cut potatoes (like they do at In-N-Out) do not make as good french fries as from frozen.I agree. I was not impressed at all.
I think I saw a video on McDonald fries on YouTube and they need to be soaked in water to get the starch out before cooking.Might be why.I assume most restaurants have theirs done this way.I may be weird for thinking this, but in my experience fresh cut potatoes (like they do at In-N-Out) do not make as good french fries as from frozen.
They here good people and pay them an above average wage. They have high standards and work tirelessly to uphold them. They also appreciate your business.WHY, for the love of all things holy, are the people who make CFAs so efficient not running EVERYTHING? I mean really. Interesting... at In-N-Out they just put whole potatoes in the slicer thingee, push down the handle, and from there they go into the fryer. There's no soaking involved. I assume the frozen ones get misted with water before being flash frozen.I think I saw a video on McDonald fries on YouTube and they need to be soaked in water to get the starch out before cooking.Might be why.I assume most restaurants have theirs done this way.
