Exactly. It’s not like they’re losing to Purdue here. Committee will give them the benefit of doubt, especially if the alternative is to put 5 SEC schools in the playoff.
Well, they got some instant help already. One less SEC team to worry about….now only 5 contenders from the SEC. Only chance of all of them finishing with 2 losses or less is Texas winning out and then losing to Bama in Atlanta, plus the chalk holding everywhere else with the SEC, B1G, and Notre Dame.
It’s actually a lot that has to happen to keep an 11-1 IU out now:
1) Bama over OU
2) Bama over Auburn
3) Bama over Texas
4) Texas over UK
5) Texas over Texas A&M
6) UGA over GT
7) Tennessee over Vandy
8) ND over Army
9) ND over USC
10) Penn State over Minnesota (PSU is currently down 10-0)
11) Penn State over Maryland
12) Ohio State over Michigan
All those would be chalk outcomes…and most of them certainly WILL happen. But go to Vegas and make a bunch of 12-game money line parlay bets, and see how many you win.
So, IU came out as a big winner today with OM going down, even with they big loss that happened at the same time.
