Inside the commitment: Torricelli Simpkins III
GamecockCentral takes a deeper look into what South Carolina is getting in new offensive line commitment Torricelli Simpkins III.
So, we're losing players to USCw, FSU, Ole Miss, UF and Notre Dame and we're picking up one year players from NCC.
You can't spin this.

Those people who touted Beamer's recruiting abilities..... I remember posting on here that kids did not come to USC because of Beamer. They came to USC to play for the legendary Steve Spurrier.
Trust me when I say that I get NO pleasure in having been right. NONE AT ALL.
What are you proclaiming to be right on? The assumption that just bc these kids are transferring in from a lower level that they suck? Recruiting prowess is never shown on signing day. It shown in the subsequent years. Also, lets see how we finish. Those people who touted Beamer's recruiting abilities..... I remember posting on here that kids did not come to USC because of Beamer. That is a great stat! My question immediately is what kind of competition was it against, and how well do his abilities transfer to the best football conference in the country? I feel certain he will see mostly if not all bigger, better, stronger, and faster DL in the SEC.This is not spin, but just kind of an eye popping stat. Dude had 81 pancake blocks last year?? That's insane.
Don't disagree, just thought it was gaudy. But hey, he's a biggun that plays nasty and mean. You gotta have OL that you don't have to teach to bite. That is a great stat! As a combo, Tanner and Beamer can't keep up with most D-1 schools.Of our 11 transfers in, 6 are from Charlotte, North Carolina Central, Tennessee Tech, SC State, North Texas and Coastal.
Give it up, Dude. When virtually everyone starts to see the end you need to quit arguing. We all know you love the school, but your arguments are becoming nonsense. We're going 4-8 next year at best. If Beamer is retained, we'll be having the identical convo after players like Stewart bolt. What are you proclaiming to be right on? HUGE GET!!! maybe even BIG TIME GET!!!This is not spin, but just kind of an eye popping stat. Dude had 81 pancake blocks last year?? That's insane.
No, thanks. I'll keep doing what I do. Appreciate your concern though. I thought you were done anyway? You had given up or something like that.Give it up, Dude. I don't know how old you are but I do admire your eternal optimism. I also don't know what your job is but if it isn't master turd polisher, you missed your calling. No, thanks. I'm in my low 40s. I've always been a glass half full kind of guy...especially when it comes to things I can't control. In finance, I have spend the majority of my career polished turds (bad financials) for banks, investors, and ownership groups. So, it's kind of my thing.I don't know how old you are but I do admire your eternal optimism. I also don't know what your job is but if it isn't master turd polisher, you missed your calling.
I anxiously await your posts in August laying out how we get to 10 wins and a spot in the 12 team playoff.

I'm sure I won't let you down.
After our many interactions on here, I can say wholeheartedly that you are an EXCELLENT polisher of turds!![]()
You're pretty active to not care...just sayin.Grown people fighting over what shade of sucky we are. Lovely.

Don't underestimate the ability of some to try.
Beamer was pushed by some on the basis that he was some super duper recruiter. I think those people were sold a "bill of goods".
In the face of our NIL ability vs the bigshots listed above, shading Beamer's recruiting prowess is a tad narrow minded. So, we're losing players to USCw, FSU, Ole Miss, UF and Notre Dame and we're picking up one year players from NCC.

What I said I was right about was what I said when Beamer's name came up about this job. Players who came to USC when he was Recruiting Coordinator, were coming to USC because of Steve Spurrier, to play for a legend, who had a track record of big success. They were not coming here because of Shane Beamer. I've seen nothing since Beamer has been here to change my opinion. I commented that, based and in response on the post above what 18Isthe Man said regarding where 6 of the transfers are from. Now there's no guarantee that they will automatically "suck". But, honestly, it's not encouraging to me either. And I know I'm not alone with that train of thought. And that's not just what I read here. When I went for my semi-annual medical physical right after Christmas, my General Practitioner said the same thing. And I did not bring up the topic. He was brutally hard on Beamer's recruiting. I honestly have not seen anything from Shane from a recruiting standpoint since he has been here to match what his supporters said he'd bring to the recruiting table. It's true that we don't KNOW how these kids will eventually do here and, we should see how we finish. I am saying "thus far".What are you proclaiming to be right on? The assumption that just bc these kids are transferring in from a lower level that they suck? Recruiting prowess is never shown on signing day. It shown in the subsequent years. Oh, you get a LITTLE pleasure. Just a little.
The guy on the titanic that scoffed at the "unsinkable" comment was gloating for just a second before the implications dawned on him.

Bottom line is Beamer has to do a better job with his assistants. When you look at Lane Kiffin, he was 40-36 as a HC before going to FAU (inc the Raiders). He had been fired from 2 different places. He ended up at a place (OM) with no better an outlook than we have at USC. But the one thing he's done is have great coaching staffs. He knows he's not going to out recruit Bama, LSU, UGA, etc...So you gotta outcoach them.In the face of our NIL ability vs the bigshots listed above, shading Beamer's recruiting prowess is a tad narrow minded.
We are South Carolina, always have been; it is he hand we've been dealt. Stomping a foot, trying to use some business plan as a blueprint, some hot up-and-coming visionary, etc will still not change anything. It takes a Steve Spurrier for brief moments in the sun under normal conditions; when we have to compete against $$, well...

I get all of that. HBC had 10 classes here. I believe 3 of them were top 15. So it's not like he was necessarily killing it either. What I said I was right about was what I said when Beamer's name came up about this job. All the above comes from someone, ME, who has been on record here stating that Beamer overachieved on the field in each of his first 2 seasons here. So, I am not a constant positive fan nor constant negative fan. I just call them as I see them.
I agree. In fact, even when he was at Florida, fans there griped about his recruiting. Of course, SOS, unlike Dabo, was not known for his recruiting. He was known more for his game day skills. His time at Duke showed he knew more than a thing or two about coaching. I'm hoping that Beamers first 2 seasons here are the norm whereas last season was an aberration. Time will tell.I get all of that. HBC had 10 classes here. I believe 3 of them were top 15. So it's not like he was necessarily killing it either.
Agree. He's shown he can play above expectations. We were simply not deep enough to absorb injuries last year. We lost a lot of players in the coaching change, and his first class was a waste. Just didn't have any depth.I agree. In fact, even when he was at Florida, fans there griped about his recruiting. Of course, SOS, unlike Dabo, was not known for his recruiting. As Muschamp's players have left, Beamer's results have gone down.Agree. He's shown he can play above expectations. We were simply not deep enough to absorb injuries last year. We lost a lot of players in the coaching change, and his first class was a waste. Just didn't have any depth.
That's a discouraging way to look at it.As Muschamp's players have left, Beamer's results have gone down.
Really bad take. Tell me which one of these players had good careers before Beamer took over:As Muschamp's players have left, Beamer's results have gone down.
If that's true, then we're done.In the face of our NIL ability vs the bigshots listed above, shading Beamer's recruiting prowess is a tad narrow minded.

So please explain how Beamer - after going 5-7 - was able to get a Top 20 recruiting class for next year. I think the transfers are more about NIL - I think we have some work to do there.
