Can't read behind paywall. Cliff notes?
Sorry on the paywall. I was able to read. I don’t subscribe. Talks about the insinuation that he was the ring leader of throwing Nutt under the bus and Tom Mars being interviewed and saying he has never had a lawsuit settled as quickly as Ole Miss did with Nutt. Freeze declined to be interviewed. Very thorough article so a lot more in it. Considering it was the hometown newspaper that wrote it I guess there is no “honeymoon” period for Bjork.

Its not a paywall, click on the banner that pops up and it goes away and you can read it
Interesting, when I click the banner it takes me to the home page. But when I browse through to the story and click on it, right back to the paywall. Doesn't matter, like vhdawg said, I already knew he was a liar.

That's odd, I just clicked the X in the top right corner and it worked fine.

Now that I think about it I've searched "Columbus Dispatch" before and gotten that paywall for that paper and it wouldn't work when I was actually trying to access the Commercial Dispatch in Columbus MS

It's amazing to me that tOSU and aTm before them didn't know what a total piece of schit this guy is before they hired him. Or maybe they just didn't care.
There is no way they didn’t know. That’s the quality on the top of their “needs” list.

I assume he is an excellent fund raiser. That seems to be the primary task of an AD these days.

I can't think of any other reason these big programs are interested in him.

He also did a good job protecting OM during the Freeze situation. We'd self imposed the death penalty, he fought them to the end and they got light sanctions compared to the infractions.

Never cooperate with the NCAA, fight them, they have no balls and get shaky when a program fights back. Hopefully Selmon has some balls. No one else in the AD or President's office does. Just look at "tutor gate," we self imposed harsh penalties, UNC had a cheating scandal that went on for years, was 10k x worse than ours and they got no penalty.

“A calm sea never produced a good sailor,” said Carter, a retired United States Navy vice admiral.

Pretty sure he was quoting the Titanic's captain there.

No paywall for me. Here are some other interesting tidbits:

Bjork called them "Mississippi". He might have turned me around on him. Nah, he still sucks, but that's funny:
“Throughout my career, when made aware of potential NCAA violations, I have always acted transparently, honestly and with a focus on supporting our student-athletes and doing the right thing,” Bjork said. “I did so at Mississippi and will do the same at Ohio State.”

In a lot of ways, the Freeze prostitute revelation was the best thing in the world for Ross Bjork. If he had to deal with more Freeze nonsense and more allegations and more investigations over the course of the next few years, it likely would have drug down his career. I don't think he would have gotten A&M and I sure as hell don't think he would have gotten Ohio 17ing State. The way it happened, he gets to push this "tested by fire" narrative where he navigated the school through a turbulent 7 year investigation, removed some bad actors, and ultimately blame everything that happened on Freeze, who he 'decisively' terminated due to 'moral turpitude'.

I totally forgot about Shea Patterson.

Bjork hasn't been officially hired yet. He still has to be approved by the Ohio State board next week. No reason to expect that he won't be hired, but interesting.

So you think these major programs like him for publicly lying and hiding facts, getting his school sued, and letting his program be embarrassed by an escort scandal?

I get that their penalties were light, but that was more a sign of the NCAA losing its power than anything Bjork did. I don't think major programs would invite that bullshite just because UMiss got light penalties.

Freeze is the one that brought all that on OM. They, OM, are much more "all in" than us. They circled the wagons to keep a very good coach, I'm sure that decision was made above the AD level, by the top boosters. Eventually it got to the point they couldn't keep, but Bjork fought the good fight. I really don't think they were that embarrassed. Look at Michigan, the biggest cheating scandal in history, you think they're embarrassed? Jan 2023, two folks from the UGA football program were killed due to drunk driving after their natty, you think the university came out and accepted responsibility?

CFB, like anything else that generates tons of money and fame, is full of lies and hiding of facts. This shouldn't be news to anyone.

ADs are paid to raise money, manage the athletic program and protect that program. The trend is away from "falling on your sword," hopefully we're on board with that now, historically we haven't been.

Bjork somehow convinced Freeze to claim the hookers were for him personally when we all know he was arranging them for underage recruits. It was the lesser of two evils as far as the university was concerned. That took some talent.
