First, everyone that transfers are sophomores. Something weird about that. Discuss amongst yourselves.

And a genespage post:

this is not a coincidence. My guess is that these guys are onto Rick's lack of coaching genius. I've heard at least one former transfer cite that as a reason.

I'm assuming he meant dissent, but that could be a prescient slip of the keyboard.

Five years later, the hits keep on coming. This transfer thing does have that 'pot is about to boil over' feel to it.

same reason used myself... Yeah, I'm sure, it has something to do with it but, it's not that big enough of a problem to transfer... You aren't just gonna leave a university after two year because they don't have a practice facility... If you were, why in the hell did you go there in the first place... You knew during your recruitment that that type of facility wasn't available...

I honestly feel like this is a Stansbury issue... I have been a big suporter of Stansbury the past decade but, something isn't right inside the program... I think Stansbury is one of those coaches that likes to find a star for the team and make that player the star of the team... He wants to put that game on one players shoulders and let that be the go to guy when they need a big play... If you aren't that guy he picks, then tough...

I feel like Hansbrough realizes that, even if Gordon doesn't' come back, Stans is gonna make somebody else that guy next year... And it's not that Hans so much wants to be that guy as he wants it to be a team effort instead.

Gordon should not have been the guy taking that final 3 pointer against Memphis... You know that is how Stans drew it up though... I think had that play been drawn up with Hans taking that final shot we wouldn't be having this discussion today, whether it went in or not...

Really... I thought Stans was the best coach in the SEC, hands down...or so some of you on this board say he is...

I think it has become pretty clear that Stans is the problem and not all these players leaving.
This pattern of transfers is getting really old. One or two transfers maybe...
Stans can recruit, and coach defense, but that is about it.
He can not control his players once they get here, he has no clue how to run a program.
He has turned the current team into the J-Money Show, and Hans did not want any part of it.
We do not have an offense b/c Stans can not coach offenisve basketball.
All we do is run a little motion and let J-Money drive or shoot a three.
He is an average floor coach who can recruit good college players.
Stans will never get a team past the first weekend of the NCAA's b/c he can't keep players in Starkville.

what is the solution? No matter the problem Stans has still created one of the more successful SEC programs of the decade. On top of that, so far all of the transfers havent popped up anywhere else and done better than here.

Ervin - would have had the same success here...chances are his minutes would have gone down.
Delks - to be determined, but I bet neither will see more minutes or success.
Hans - see the Delks.

The rest are not worth talking about.

Gordon should not have been the guy taking that final 3 pointer against Memphis
Are you serious?

Is there a problem?..yes, but boy its going to be a tough one to fix.

1. Rick recruited all of these players. All of these players were familiar with Rick's coaching style, with Rick's coaching record, so why do they get here and suddenly are so unhappy with his style that despite starting for two years, they leave?

2. Since 2000, only UK and UF have won more SEC games than Rick.

3. These unhappy daddys are the same happy daddys that allowed their sons to sign with Rick in the first place.

In other words, a large percentage of this falls on Rick, but when you consider everything, you kinda have to wonder what kind of people the Delks and Hansbroughs are to cry foul after two successful seasons on the campus of Mississippi State University, with two very likely successful seasons on the horizon.

embodiment of Mississippi State. Just when you think you can get excited about him, feel comfortable with him, and start supporting him again...he kicks you right in the dick.

That's it, he is perfect for us. Like a match made in heaven.

we could've used in a major way in the years that weren't here (or aren't going to be here). Our guard depth this year was atrocious. We really could've used the Delks. It's never good to lose sophomore starters.

DING! DING! Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Tell the man what he has won Don Pardo.

I don't want to sound like I am throwing Jamont under the bus. I think the Delks and Hans are the type of players that just need to learn to deal with it. Because they are not getting minutes anywhere else. But with that said, once Jamont leaves, which I hope is next year, the transfers will go down.

I place all this on Stans. You have got to be able to bring in big time talent and manage it so that everyone is treated the same.

Like Rose said, everyone in the gym know Jamont was taking that last shot. He took the last shot vs UGA too.

good decisions for themselves, much less MSU. The "reason" they are unhappy here is not going to improve wherever they go. We may never know what the real reason is, but no matter Delk and Hans are only hurting themselves.

I hope Stans can fix the problem.

Why can't you and your ilk make a post without extreme exaggeration? I can't remember anyone on this board every saying Stans was "the best coach in the SEC, hands down." It's stupid of you to post that because you know it's completely untrue. I have seen him put into top 5-6 coaches in this league by mutliple posters, but that isn't anywhere near the same thing as being "the best coach in the SEC, hands down."

The transfers are troublesome. I said that last year when the Delks left and took a ton of flack for that. Stansbury struggles at handling attitude players. I'm not ready to run him out of town because he still wins. Still, it definantly hurts us. I like Stansbury and think he is a good coach that has won a ton of games. He obviously has a chink in his armor that sooner or later he needs to seriously address if he wants to take the next step.

Isn't this the same BS we heard last year when the Delks left? Has anybody heard the MAJOR problem with our program yet? I know I sure as hell haven't. I'm not saying there isn't one, but I sure as hell doubt anything will come out unless it's recruiting violations or some other violations. I doubt anything dramatic is going to come out like with the Lsu's woman's basketball coach last year. If anything and I think most think this is the problem, is the way J-Money gets preferential treatment and I don't think you will ever hear that come out unless you talk to a former player personally or someone post it on sixpack who has talked to a former player. I also don't buy into the "they realize Stans can't coach" when most people agree that this was one of his best coaching performances this year.
