Upon quick reading, it seems whatever team wants him first is going to make a big gamble.

Couldn't kentucky (or any school), just make a 1-year offer? April 30th means next season is already over, so review the 2nd year then.

If he can opt out because of the whole "becoming legal" after 1 year, then teams really cant offer him a 2 year deal. And his side should understand that.

How is him being under 18 different from any other high school athlete that is under 18?
It is highly unusual for a student athlete to be under 18 when the season begins. I was as young as I could be in my proper grade level (being born late September) and was 17 for like the first 2 weeks of college. If I'd been born in October, I'd have been down a grad level and turned 18 early in my senior year of high school.

I was born in October and was 17 when I started. I did play against a lot of guys that were older than me my senior year in HS and they were juniors.

Off the top of my head - Copper Flagg, Jayden Quaintenace and Jeremiah Fears. Certainly not going to be alot percentage wise but they are probably higher profile players to even be able to compete at 17.

Not sure how anyone could forget Cooper Flagg. ESPN made a point to tell us 400 times per game or highlight session ("can you believe this kid is only 18!?!?!?!").

He was 17 until December 20.
"Yes, Cooper Flagg was 17 years old for the majority of his historic freshman season at Duke. Because he reclassified and skipped a year of high school, he began his college career at just 17 years old. He turned 18 during the latter half of his freshman season. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]"

Interesting. Hopefully this doesn’t freeze the over the deal. If we sign him he or his parent go cold on us at any time. But I’m not concerned about that. If he’s hot he’ll play and likely be happy and if he’s cold he won’t and he’ll leave and thus it wasn’t a good thing anyway. It could actually make them feel more comfortable signing. Nice tips!

Yeah I mean he acts like it's unprecedented that a 17 year old signs to play college ball. I do remember ESPN saying Cooper Flagg was only 17 every 5 seconds. Duke managed that just fine. I think we'll be fine on this.
I'd say him being an international player is part of it, and the "two year deal" is the other big part of it. Maybe Flagg could have walked away from any deals after he turned 18 in December, but he was always a 1 and done and wouldn't be back the next year. This dude, we can sign him to a 2 year deal but while the 2nd year is binding to UK, it is NOT binding to him. He can just let it lapse and start from scratch in the spring. Then again, how enforceable are "2 year deals" anyway?

Maybe with the visa stuff, yeah. The rest of it just sounds like stuff that needs to worded correctly in the contracts.

I fail to see how any of that makes any difference. Whether or not he or his parents sign a two year NIL deal, he could still transfer next year anyway if he wanted to. If he is on a two-year deal and decides not to reaffirm it when he turns 18, then what does it matter? He won't be paid all the money on the deal right away anyway. He just wouldn't get paid for the remaining money on the two-year deal... just like if he transferred. And are we really supposed to believe that his parents have to be recruited just because he's 17? Literally every recruitment involves getting the player's family to buy in too. Absolutely none of the points in that tweet are actually an issue.

I see no reason to 'borrow" this trouble from a tomorrow that may never be.

Get the dude and work it out. If he leaves for whatever reason then what else is new under the sun about that? We have had 10,000 guys for a year, it will be okay.

Cuz he's a pathetic loser.

Funny thing is, I’m new to Twitter and have heard people on here talk about him but never interacted with the guy in way, shape or form that I know of. He may have seen a comment by me on another post and blocked me or something, idk.. lol I go hard on Louisville and Arkansas fans on there.. 😂

I was under the impression that 2 year deals weren't a thing under the current implementation of NIL regardless? It seems like if it was possible it would be more common. Sign him for one. If you can get another deal done next year, sign him for one more then. If not, let him go to the portal and replace him. Not really sure what the issue here is. You don't pass on a player of this caliber for a reason like this.
