...Jamont claiming that Stansbury told him to go ahead and go pro? That nicely coincides with lawdawg's earlier post on the subject.

The only person that thinks Jamont is a first rounder is Jamont. And I don't see why Stansbury would be telling Jamont to go, if he thinks Jamont is second round or lower, especially with such a negative impact on our team next year.

I just think that's odd, and that lawdawg may very well have been right.

I find it funny that a majority of MSU fans are NBA draft experts now. All of you geniuses are confident of where Jamont WONT go in the Draft. Meanwhile, we are losing an All SEC and All American.

Once again, who gives a **** where he is drafted, the bottom line is that this is BAD for MSU basketball. Enjoy the Randy Stewart NIT run next year, sponsored by Bricks r Us.

but that was inside info. thanks for noticing.

about jamont being in the first round... i really could see some team taking a shot on him late in the first round. people say he really doesn't have a position in the nba. but i think he has more of a position in the nba than he did in college. the nba loves big guards, which of course he is. i couldn't help but notice the other night that his game could be very similar in the nba to manu ginobili's game. granted, i think ginobili has a couple of inches on him. but his game is geared around driving and getting to the rim, using his size and quickness to his advantage.

you also have to look at the teams that will be drafting at the end of the first round. most of those teams are good (hence, the late draft pick). they have few holes to fill, and would be more apt to take a shot on a guy that can play a couple of positions if needed. also, jamont has a couple of things you CANNOT teach - the most noticable being his size, esp. for a guard. sure, his downfall is shooting - but that's something you can teach. or at least work on with a player. i bet there are LOTS of guys in the league who have honed their shooting since being in the league.

my point is, i don't think it's a given that jamont's not a first rounder. he could sneak in. but from what i heard, the coaches were encouraging him to go, regardless of his potential draft position.</p>

where was Monta Ellis drafted?

Getting drafted in the second round isn't the end of your career. It just takes longer to get the really big money. I feel sure Jamont can get by on NBA minimum pay for three years

that you are incapable of replying to a post without going on a rant that usually has nothing to do with the original post.

and I'm sure you can find some non-drafted players who had good careers, but it is the exception rather than the rule.

It's not really that odd. Look at what Coach Cal in Memphis is doing. Dorsey is the only one graduating. He has informed Rose, and CDR to go to the NBA. He also told Dozier and Anderson to enter their name to get feedback on where they stand. It's a good recruiting tactic. I'm not saying this is the case, but it's just a different scenario.

they are first round locks. Rose will be the first or second pick, and CDR will probalby go 15-20. They get guarnateed money and a guaranteed roster spot, so it's a no-brainer.

Rose and CDR are no brainers of course. Anderson and Dozier are more of what I was referring to.
