the former crack head is now your AL triple crown leader. screw horse racing this is a much better story. former #1 overall pick. he wasted all his money on drugs and alcohol. he was constantly suspended for substance abuse and he even attempted suicide on multiple occasions. then he finally stopped using drugs two years ago, mlb lifted his suspension, reds signed him, rangers traded their top pitching prospect in the off-season for him and now he is the reigning AL player of the month, on pace for the triple crown and leading the rebuilding rangers to a respectable record. its only his second year in the league but he's playing at such an incredible level. its like he turned out exactly like you would have thought 9 years ago. there are tons of stories on him. haven't really heard much on espn though. but i guess its hard for espn to talk about him because he doesn't play for new york or boston.
