When he throws off his back foot and the ball sails high, he is pretty mediocre. What he throws off his front foot, he has a lot of juice in his throws.

Give him a running attack and I'll bet you would see better results.
I am in the camp that when we have a decent run game (like 2019) and he is at 100%, he is an above avg D1 QB. When the QB in the PSU offense is not a run threat, we have problems, which has been the case for several years. SC has been injured frequently, and if you are going to run our type of offense, you need 2-3 QBs ready to play. We have been lucky to have 2 for a few years, but this year we have 1. With that 1 injured you get what you have now.

I am not a believer that SC is at 100%. The first TD pass yesterday was horrible. It was a TD, but only because of Dotson. SC ran a couple times yesterday, but in a normal game that would be around 10 times. The staff knows that if SC goes down, we have a dumpster fire on OFF, so the scheme has changed and every DC we play knows it. So every game will feature high amount of blitzes and man coverage.

He is what I have always said he is, an average to above average QB, good enough to win games, but he is not special, nor will he ever be.

You go to war with troops you have and stand with them. The team may be battered and bruised but even when the battle plan sputters from the jump, we still have a puncher's chance for the knockout. Dotson and Clifford and the grit of the defense proved that against Maryland. We have three more chances to land the haymakers that will leave us standing as the clock winds to zero. Like it or not, that's the weapons we have. We are not going to steamroll our way to victory. But a win is a win is a win no matter how the points are added to the scoreboard.

The problem I see with him, and unfortunately others, is that he hasn't improved. Whether that's because he's at his peak potential, or he hasn't been developed sufficiently, is an argument for the pro/anti Franklin folk.
I disagree with this

He actually got worse from his 1-4th years and is now improving under Yurcich

Your passive-aggressive shtick got old years ago. Sorry, but it’s God’s honest truth.

You forgot or maybe never read what I posted, about controversial topics, years ago.

I'll refresh your memory a little later Jim

Off to work I go.

I hope Clifford moves on to his life work after this season... Drew Allar needs to be the focus. Let MC work with him from day one and get him in the position. It is clear that Clifford has not been able to improve his craft. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I actually think the kid has regressed over the past couple of years. Time for change.

I understand all of the hype / excitement over Allar - I guess - but we really need Cliff to return next year. Very, very few true freshman are ready for CF right out of the gate. A Trevor Lawrence comes along every 5 to 10 years or so. The last thing we need is to ruin this kid's confidence. And who knows, maybe Pribula ends up the better COLLEGE QB.

I read an article on Eleven Warriors that said that their "generational QB" Ewers is nowhere near ready to see the field this year. Keep in mind, he was the no. 1 recruit overall in his class and thought he would see the field when he reclassified. He hasn't even been on the travelling squad this year as Stroud, McCord and Miller are all in front of him. Some of the expectations from the fans regarding HS blue chips are just crazy

I see your 4 family members agree with you but maybe it is because you have a strong influence on their opinions
I guess this is the best way to respond to Glov. He’s a good guy who rarely shows a mean hand. He is not going to change and it’s silly to get worked up over his antics. (I am in some sense taking to myself here, in response to my earlier posts in this thread. Life hack.)

He is the 21st ranked QB on ESPN site. We all figured this season hinged greatly on Clifford's health and performance. If he hadn't gotten hurt vs Iowa, he would be ranked higher, maybe top 15. We would be 8-1 right now. With a average running game to go along with a completely healthy Clifford, we might have beaten Ohio State as well. It only takes an injury or two to derail a promising season.

LionJim - You nailed it. Despite this poll being infantile, Glov has shown repeatedly that he simply needs attention. He gets that attention by stirring the pot regarding topics that will annoy a certain portion of the board (e.g., Philadelphia). It's best not to take his antics seriously.

Ewers stated when he reclassified that he was prepared to redshirt to learn the system and make a million dollars in the process. He might have thought he could get in a game or 2 and still keep his RS. Keep in mind Eleven Warriors generational QB should still be in high school. Ewers will be fine. McCord and or Miller will transfer portal and as long as Ewers gets over his rumored homesickness he will probably be #2 next season and Stroud may leave after next season.

The case to start Allar next season (with some Ewers comparisons since you brought him up)
- Allar is enrolling early as is Pribula instead of reclassifying at the last minute to enroll in the summer, after the 3 other 4 and 5 star QBs battled it out in the spring. Allar should be prepared to start as a true frosh in game 1 against Purdue.
- He does not have to be a Trevor Lawrence (comes along every 5 to 10 years). Matthew Strafford started as a true freshman after he enrolled early. Peyton Manning eventually started as a true freshman. Hack won the starting job for game 1 and he did not show up until summer. Hack was NOT ruined by starting early. He was ruined during his sophmore and junior seasons because he was sacked too many times.

You bring in a portal QB similar to Stonehands Bowman's kid that was just looking for a chance to compete so he chose Michigan over Penn State. You stay away from the Rattlers that will want to be promised a starting job. You want to find a Plan B QB to compete with Allar and Pribula in the spring. I like Clifford. If he came back for 2022, it would probably set the program back 1 year. I fully expect Allar to be starting by midseason and Clifford coming back guarantees that does not happen unless injury. Clifford would be at Trace level for Franklin's loyalty, if he came back next season.

Here, I'll cheer you up. Although Neshaminy ended the season with a miserable 2-8 record, they were 1-0 vs Pennsbury! So all is right with the world.

Yeah, I’ve been checking Neshaminy’s scores every week, and then, usually, crying myself to sleep.

The 50th anniversary of the Neshaminy-Pennsbury Game of the Century is coming up on November 20. I was there, a sophomore at the time.

Just simply vote your conscious.
My vote was for you to just stop it. And that’s just not about QB’s . Stop your campaign of terror against sharks 🦈, 🐻, alligators 🐊, lightning ⚡️ whatever else triggers your primal fears about life. Psychiatrists are doing wonderful things these days, I’m positive that somewhere Medicare has a 24/7/365 day plan.

I am always amazed by the anti-clifford sentiment on this board. I have written many version of this, that I should sav for every time a post like this gets posted(usually after wins in which Clifford has a good game and does not run the ball over?). This is a kid that has had 3 offensive coordinators(1 of which I thought was terrible). He was never a dual threat QB, but he was specifically told by the coaching staff to increase his 40 time. That if you are going to be a PSU QB, in this system, you have to be fast. He has been told at different points that he is to read his 1st read, then take off and pick up yards with his legs. It has been QB malpractice the way this guy has been taught the position. He dealt with Wr's that literally could not catch for a year, poor running games, and varying levels of awful O-line play throughout his career. He has been our #1 rusher in a season(which is crazy even if he had Cam Newton athleticism), he has taken multiple hits in the back field and on designed runs, he has never complained or hung his head. This year, we actually bring in a guy that understands the need to keep Clifford in the pocket and get him to survey other routes, keep plays alive, not take off and run and you have a QB that completes 65% of his passes, has 16 TDs to 6 Interceptions. He has been hurt, otherwise I expect those numbers to be better. He has NO run game and a very average offensive line. Superhero Trace Mcsorley completed 59% of his passes during his PSU career and Clifford, as of today, has a better QB rating(barely) without nearly the talent and playcallers around him during his tenure.

If Clifford hasn't lived up to whatever unreasonable expectations exist on this board, I would blame it on the same coaches, system, and supporting cast that really hasn't gotten much out of any of our QB's, Trace included. People forget Trace's last year was a disaster without the talent around him and Rahne as a play caller.
