Is Croom really this stubborn or am I reading this wrong.

"He was going to be our third-string quarterback. We were going to bring him along slowly this year," Croom said of Carroll. Even after everything that happened last season, does Croom still think that Henig was the best choice at qb? He would still be our starter this weekend. Damn that makes you wonder how much they really plan on opening up the offense this year. I hope he really is not that stubborn.

but I think that quote is talking about last season when Wes was behind Henig and Riddell.

***Edit*** The whole article would be helpful though.

You have a guy in Henig that sucks, but he is a seasoned veteran. I think Croom would have put Riddell in against LSU had he not been suspended. He couldn't, so he had to roll with Henig and then later on Carroll. Riddell would have been a good quarterback for us in my opinion. But that's how it goes.

He really had no choice with Henig until Carroll and Riddell showed they could play on the field.

Croom wanted to redshirt Wes really bad as Wes recovered from offseason shoulder surgery. He was forced into action after Henig and Riddell went down. The guy earned my respect, he's a competitor.

He would back up Henig/Riddell in '08, had they not gotten hurt and transferred. No one wants to start a true freshman at QB, no matter how good they are. You're reading into too much.
