Is it crazy to think we could be funding an adversary in recruiting?

Talk about a conflict of interest. What's involved with getting out of that contract?

I wonder if this is where Lloyd will end up. This coach seems to plot with players and their mothers. He poached a lb who was leaning our way and was gleeful when the prospect went out of his way to insult us at the signing. As for Lloyd, I wish we could have landed Tank. Bigsby has proven to be a better player and has remained loyal to Auburn
despite all the turmoil and frustration about how he was being used or not being used. I confess.Sour grapes indeed!

UGA fans are pushing for Lloyd. I think MD is the odds-on favorite. If Lloyd and Babalade end up there along with Harbor, we need to get out of that Under Armor contract immediately. Makes zero sense AT ALL to be in a financial agreement with a company that is recruiting against you.

Questions from our brass definitely need to be headed in the direction of the UA brass.

So it's only a conflict now, because of this one picture, and not all the other times with all the other schools that we recruit against that UA also sponsors. Y'all really think this is first time this may have happened? Y'all really think the NIKE guys haven't done it for their alma mater? Good Lord, do you really think that MJ doesn't actively recruit for UNC (since everyone seems to want us to go with NIKE). It happens EVERYWHERE with EVERY sponsor.

We'll get the guys that want to be Gamecocks, and we'll lose some guys that we wanted. It's always been that way. Recruits are terribly fickle.

You're missing the mark. Other schools that use UA gear recruiting players who we are also recruiting is NOT the same as the founder of UA recruiting a player to another school Not close to the same thing at all.

I'm not missing the point. I'm pointing out that this isn't the first time it's happened and won't be the last. If y'all think it is the first time it's happened, you're being naive. And I'm pointing out that it will happen with any company we sign with. People are just using this as another reason to lobby for us leaving UA for NIKE. It will happen there too.

I'd go with the brand that has the least potential COI then. Adidas comes to mind.

There is zero chance I'd contribute towards the salary of a man who is poaching our recruits.

You may not be able to stop it 100%, but that doesn't mean you hand-wrap recruits for your competitor.

That's fine. Hopefully you can find enough Gamecock clothing made by a clothing company not involved in athletics.

FYI, Adidas is involved in athletics. They have a long history actually.

No sane argument can be made for remaining with a company whose founder is openly recruiting against you. None at all. I've never had a preference on who we use for uniforms. It's irrelevant to me, as far as the uniform itself goes. But it shows a total lack of self-respect to suggest we should remain in business with them.

If they're all bad, choose the least bad one.

It would seem with all the praise heaped upon the Business school we'd have graduated a couple of deep pocketed sports loving billionaires by now...

It is different now that an UA founder can straight up offer players a million dollar NIL. You don't think that matters?

I mean, if we have a picture of a MD booster openly breaking the NCAA rules I think it doesn't hurt to shine a spotlight on it as much as we can. Just because it's happened in the past and you think "that's the way it is" that means it's right or how it's supposed to be. We might as well fight this when we can or at least while we can stand to gain.

How often do we recruit a player head to head with Oregon / Nike? The Maryland / UA situation effects us much more.

Who would we switch to? Nike is all Oregon so we'd start b*tching when Phil Knight starts talking to a recruit.

I could count on one hand the number of recruits we have competed with Oregon for.

See above. Also, there's Adidas.
