Yep. It wasn't just losing in the SECT. MsSt took us the woodshed.I think the shellacking MSST put on us, and other conference tournament results pretty much did us in. I don’t think we deserved a bid after playing terrible in the SECT in Tampa! Martin knew the consequences of missing post season play. It was clearly stated to him after he was as retained after last season. He failed, he’s gone. I hope he finds a really good situation for him. Good man, solid coach, poor recruiter.
We did not win an SECT game after 2018 when we beat the 14 seed by 1 point. So there is no way a postseason tournament would invite us. Sad but true....to the NIT after the SECT loss to Ole Miss State to make it easier to terminate Frank's contract?
I noticed that the press release stated that we weren't invited, i.e., we did not turn down an invitation.
If letting Frank go is a high priority.........just thinking out loud.I never cease to be amazed. Yeah, Ray called the NIT and said don’t invite us.
If it ever got out, no respectable coach would come here.If true, RT would gain my respect!
Could it have been he didn’t want to send the Pep Band?...to the NIT after the SECT loss to Ole Miss State to make it easier to terminate Frank's contract?
I noticed that the press release stated that we weren't invited, i.e., we did not turn down an invitation.
Agreed. We all know it's not in RT's DNA to make this happen. If it ever got out, no respectable coach would come here.
Thank you for a short, thoughtful response. If it ever got out, no respectable coach would come here.
Which is what prompted me to start this thread in the first place. It has already been confirmed that neither the NIT nor the CBI offered us a spot. And we had NO SHOT at the Big Dance. So there was nothing to turn down.
I imagine this had to go past the legislator who objected to the buyout last time in order for this dismissal to take place. What a screwed up place we are!Agreed. We all know it's not in RT's DNA to make this happen.
I was attempting to add some humor to the board. Ray tried to fire Frank last year but his hands were tied. It was also understood that Frank had to make the postseason if he wanted to retain his job. Contacting the NIT to ensue Frank didn't make the NIT so he could finally fire him is pretty funny in my opinion.
I imagine that this time, everything was already in place prior to the SECT.I imagine this had to go past the legislator who objected to the buyout last time in order for this dismissal to take place. What a screwed up place we are!
Yes, certainly there was a contingency plan.I imagine that this time, everything was already in place prior to the SECT.
