Just a little note to tell him.."WE'RE PISSED AND CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE! HIRE A REAL HC !@#$%%^&*RULE17"

Just a short, friendly note. A whisper in the ear.

.....to let the new A.D. know that certain things aren't acceptable that used to be accepted by the previous A.D.

Croom and company losing to La. Tech in their 5th year coming off a winning season is totally unacceptable, so fire away with your e-mails.

in Croom`s raise and extension. Some of his actions towards Croom are gonna be based on that. If he was a big proponent of the raise/extension then Croom will get a longer leash. That`s just human nature.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe Croom was making in the $900K+ range last year. Then, I swear I thought I remembered him getting a raise to somewhere around $1.3M either during the season or right at the very end of the season. I swear I remember that, because I remember thinking that it was a good, modest size raise, and I thought it fit what he had done.

Then, not long after we hired Nutt is when the adjustment came to take him to $1.7M, which leads me to believe that the first raise was LT and the second was Byrne. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, because I wasn't following it all that closely, but I'm pretty sure Croom received two different raises this offseason, the second of which was definitely unnecessary.

Rewarding a good season with a modest raise and extension is fine in my book, but you don't need to go off and give a roughly 90% raise to a guy unless he's all of a sudden become a hot commodity on the market. Croom was not a hot commodity this off-season, which is why the second raise was unnecessary.

Croom's base salary was 900k. With the incentives of having a winning season and making a bowl, his pay went to 1.3 million. I don't think he received any raise except for what Byrne worked out for him this summer.

I was waiting to see if he would respond to my email from last night. Posted below is the email conversation to date. It is in Chronological order:

Code:
Dear Greg, As a longtime bulldog fan, I am truly embarassed by the performance of our team tonight. Since you have been on board as atheletic director at state, you have done some truly great things. I hope that you will continue to do great things. I would hope that the first one you would do would be to have a meeting with Coach Croom, and let him know that these kinds of losses are unacceptable to a coach that is in his fifth year. I believe that it is evident that his staff is not ready to handle coaching in the SEC. Woody McCorvey did not deserve the raise that he received this past year. The wins that this team earned last year were from the effort of the defense, and not the offense. He should be gone. I was not a Croom supporter his first three years yet bought season tickets anyway. Last year bought him a pass, that momentum will be quickly eroded with additional performances like tonight. I was truly embarrassed to be a MSU fan tonight. I know that you will manage our Athletic Department better than your predessor, and I look forward to seeing additional innovative ideas that you create. Please let Coach Croom know that the showing of our coaches will not be tolorated by you or most of our fans. Thanks for your time, and Go Bulldogs!!! His response: Thanks for taking time to email me your thoughts. Tonight was a bad night for our team but it is in no way the time to jump to conclusions on how this team will perform this season. We will go back to work tomorrow and get better. You are right. Go Bulldogs! GB My Response last night to which I have not see a return: You are correct that in no way does Saturday night indicate how this team will do for the rest of the season. What it does indicate is that McCorvey still does not know how to call a game for us. This is the same ineptitude that we have seen from him every game he has coached with the exception of the Kentucky and Florida. In four years, we have yet to be ranked in the top 100 offenses in the country. These statistics indicate to me that we are not getting better, and the constant in that is Woody McCorvey. Not even in the top 100 and he gets a raise? All I ask is that these coaches know that it is not a free ride, and that you as the Athletic Director, and we as fans demand something more from our money. Again, you are the man, and I look forward to seeing what other great plans that you have for MSU. I will be at Scott field this Saturday night, and every home game this season with cowbell in hand. Thanks, I will post response from Greg if received.

you have a better shot of HD6 being sub 200 by the weekend than receiving a response from Bryne now that your email conversation is posted here.

can expect from someone in his position. He can't really respond, "hell yeah, I'm going to fire that sumbitch first thing Monday morning."

The positive thing I take from his response is the last line. "You are right." That is strong language from someone responding to a total stranger about one of his own employees. Based on the decisions he has made thus far, I have confidence (and hope) that behind closed doors our football coach is being ridden like Seabiscuit.

Maybe it's just me, but I took the "you are right" as in the Go Bulldogs part. Maybe I just misinterpreted that.

after one game, but my response to him was because of how he indicated that I was jumping to conclusions. There was no jumping as we all know McCorvey hasn't done anything to support that this ship in the right direction. I too hope that Croom is getting an ear full of it.

But it would be a hell of a lot cooler if he did. We need a Steinbrenner type belt tightning this year unless there is a quick turnaround. And that turnaround should be the offense getting well out of the triple digits.

The problem is that Woody is not the only one calling the plays...
Hint.. It is Crooms dumbass...

It's a package deal with those two, no way we lose one without the other..

This is Croom's offense. If we go 3-9 and look like chumps, there has to be a scapegoat(s). We're not going to fire Croom one year removed from an 8 win season, but we sure as hell can make him change coaches. It's more like a warning from the AD- start coaching and stop helping your buddies. It's not working. It also says if you can't win by making some changes, then we will make a BIG change. That means no more walrus in Starkville.

If Croom refuses, and says that he is going to leave if Woody is fired- which I doubt he would be stupid enough to do, fine, let him go.

Actually, I take that back. He probably would be stupid enough to do that.
