Is Polk going to go out like JWS?

Obviously the situations are different. But JWS, the winningest coach in MSU football history, went out with a significant portion of the MSU fanbase despising him for the way he let the program fall apart at the end. Likewise, Polk, a college baseball legend at MSU and arguably across college baseball as a whole, is leaving with the program suffering one of the worst seasons in his nearly 3 decades at the helm. That alone might not do it, but his actions here at the end, basically throwing MSU or anyone else under the bus with the intention of getting his pick in at the top job, might just be accompishing the impossible - ruining his legacy at MSU. Your take?

I don't despise him even though he is doing all this crap now. I think Polk will probably be remembered more for the great things than a lot of the crap that has gone on during his second tenure. I was afraid that this would happen as soon as LT brought him back.

Also, Polk is leaving the program in much better shape than JWS did. We're not on probation, we don't have players getting arrested. A good coach can come in and we will probably have a pretty good season next year. Our football program was in shambles. Our baseball program just has a lot of uncertainty and off the field power struggles going on right now.

will have a lot to do with how polk is remembered. if the next guy can come in and fix things quickly, we can forget about this whole nightmare and laugh about polk sitting up in the skybox with his cigar and girfriend <cough>. he can come talk to jim on the broadcast for a couple innings. he can give his insight while jim does confirm that the ncaa does allow coaches to remove pitchers when you have a lead.

if we have to wait three years for the next guy to learn on the job, polk will never be forgiven...at least not by me. surely everyone learned from the jackie fiasco, but then again, this is msu we are talking about.
