We were competitive in games in ‘88 at a level that I do not see us reaching this year.

I am 60 and this is the worse ever in my lifetime.
I wasn't around for that era, but I've heard tales from the older folks... the 60's were BAAAD.
Been going to games for over 45 years, and I think this is as bad as I’ve seen us. 83-90 was pretty bad, but I don’t think one of those teams would’ve Gwen blown out by Toledo.
2002-2003 were the worst I’ve ever seen. We’d be rolling and then give up as soon as the other team scored. And that was in the era where scoring 28 points on 400 yards was prolific. That’s nothing these days, and we’d lose by 3+ TDs every loss.
It’s an entirely different era right now, in a situation where we lost everybody on both sides of the ball and on the sidelines. I don’t see people quitting, but they can’t tackle or block.
If anybody can point out examples of team being put in a worse spot than us this season, I’d like to see it. And, not like a Marshall tragedy situation…. A self-inflicted one like ours.

They’re bad enough now that my Ole Miss in-laws have stopped even bringing them up

We were down 21-0 with 7 minutes left in the 1stQuarter to an average CUSA Team (finished 7-6)
Houston coasted after going up 28-0. we scored 14 vs 3rd teamers in the final 5 minutes of the game.
60's and MSU fan since 81. Worst team I've ever seen and I've seen some gross teams. All we need is a tornado warning and lockeroom fight to top it off

1960s bad. I really think the next 2 months are going to be worse than any of us have experienced.
I feel when we were bad offensively at least we had a serviceable defense but we are bad in all 3 phases right now. So I'm going....

Worst in my lifetime. 1988 was bad, but had some defense. Need to be prepared for some 60+ point beatdowns like we've not seen before.
Leadership lacking in every important position at MSU. Fan since 1978 and even the tech and 10 year didn't feel this bad. We hired an inexperienced AD because "he had a plan". Still waiting. He then hired an inexperienced coordinator as HC and then he hired a DC who wasn't one!!
The talent of our dline has to be an all time low. We’ve got guys been playing 2-3 years, 100s of snaps, and have never touched a QB. It was masked some last year thanks to Bookie & Jett. But we get zero pressure from our dline and it’s been that way for 2 years now. Randy Charlton was the last good DE we had. These other guys wouldn’t break the 2-deep on most sec rosters.
Any decent QB can pick a defense apart when he’s got 5 seconds to stand around with no pressure.
eta: we’ve got 3 sacks thru 4 games, 114 pass attempts by the worst opponents on our schedule and we’ve got 3 17n sacks. That’s honestly hard to believe

We are very clearly the worst team in a 16 team league and we really aren't very close to #15.
We've had some bad teams in my years as a fan. I think this will be the worst. The next two games are going to be brutal for anybody who gives a **** about Mississippi State.
