Is this the first time we've basically been considered to have no shot against Mizzou?

I don't recall this ever being considered an unwinnable game since they joined the league. In their 4-straight wins over us, their final record each year was 6-6, 5-5, 6-7, 6-7. So we haven't been losing to good teams. Ironically, the last year we DID beat them they finished 8-5 and had a better team than any of the last 4 that have beaten us.

Last week the season was on the line, this week the season is really on the line! Somebody needs to wake up and realize the f'n season is on the line and win a ballgame! Who will it be?

Win anyway!

By the way, you three are the only reason I keep coming back to read this board, so you got that going for you! Which is nice!

I hope y'all heard Todd and Coach Beamer's tribute to Tommy last night, pretty special!

I think we're the only ones that thing it's unwinnable. Vegas says it's a 6 point game. That's a greater than no chance to win.

It certainly won't be considered a monumental upset, but I haven't seen anyone predicting us to win. I guess pretty much everyone is least assuming we'll lose, which, again, I can't recall for this game.

I think Mario is going to have a big day, and I think their O is a LITTLE overrated. The best defense may be a productive run game.

The one thing that gives me pause is that they've played a very weak schedule. They are 6-1, but I suspect we'd be 5-2 if we had played their schedule. On the flip side, I think they're probably 3-3 with our schedule. They have the next-to-last strength of schedule in the SEC. As always, I could be wrong.

I don't think you're wrong. Missouri always seems to have a very back loaded schedule and start the season looking great only to fade later in the season as the competition gets tougher. Cocks can win this game if the defense gets its head out of it's ***.

No, maybe in your mind, but to me +7.5 on the road, totally winnable game. We can score, which gives us a chance.

Plus, the last time we won Michael Scarnecchia was our QB, we are due.

I don't gamble, but I'm in the top 10% on ESPN college pickems against the spread, I'd take Missouri to cover if it was 15.
Just saying

I think the perception was that the season was on the line last week, so the pressure is off this week. This is one of those fork-in-the-road games: Either the team will feel like the season was lost last week and phone it in the rest of the way, or else they will feel like the season was lost last week, so now they have nothing to lose and can just have some fun.

If we lose by 4; please, for God's sake, no one claim any sort of "moral victory" because we were a 7 pt underdog. That is the true mark of a loser.

They looked pretty great at Williams-Brice last year, an impression with which we helped mightily.

I play in a pick "em league on cbssports that has 6000 members....88% took Mizzou and gave the 6.5.....so general feeling not only thinks we gonna lose but get beat rather handily

I can see that maybe more that 88%, at 6.5, the Gamecock just haven't proven the can play all phases in one game, so you don't know what you're going to get. Hope we're not waiting around all season again for the 2022 UT game. I'm in a pick'em league and if I had to I'd go Mizzou, but I can't go against the Cocks.

Their QB and top receiver have put up big numbers. I hope our secondary wakes up for this game.

I have yet to see anyone pick us. General consensus is that maybe we can make a game of it.
Fallica

The Tigers are coming off a nice upset win at Kentucky and have potentially their biggest game in quite some time coming up against Georgia.

The Gamecocks blew a double-digit, fourth-quarter lead last week against Florida, but their passing attack was on point. At the very least, quarterback Spencer Rattler will keep South Carolina within striking distance, and if the pass rush doesn't fall apart like it did against Florida's Graham Mertz, it can go to Missouri and pull the upset.

PICK: South Carolina (+7) to lose by fewer than 7 points (or win outright)

I do gamble (for sport) & use a composite of the quantitative models (eg ESPN FPI) That compute probabilities for wins and point spreads. They say Mizzou has a 65% probability to win. From many years of experience I can tell you that indicates a toss-up game. Yes, this is a winnable game for us.

In contrast, Ole Miss has about an 80% probability to beat MSU. That's definitely going to be a win for Ole Miss.
