I really don't think it's about this season for the Packers. They are just looking to move forward. If Favre outperforms Rodgers this year, it isn't that big of a deal because they know his time in the NFL is almost up.

I'm not taking the Packers side in all of this, but I really don't think they had any chance of winning the Superbowl this year either way.

the Packers were one play away from going to the superbowl last year....but your right, the odds of going to the superbowl are a 1 in 16 chance, so why even try.
i also agree that it isnt a big deal if he outperforms Rodgers because they know his time in the NFL is almost up...it would be an even smarter idea to just get rid of all there veteran players, pro bowlers or not.

and didn't lose anybody of significance. They lost in the NFC championship game. You really don't think they have "any chance" of winning the Super Bowl?

Just out of curiosity, what chance did you give the Giants preseason last year?

if this was 2 or 3 years ago, when favre and the packers sucked, it's a lot easier to break ties with a hall of famer in favor of someone like rodgers -- clean break, nothing to lose. but favre put up great numbers last year on a team that barely missed the super bowl. in this situation, you bring favre back.

the window to win a Super Bowl is tiny, why not give yourself the best chance?

.....defense if/when he has a bad game, he has very little playing experience in the NFL In Favre's defense if/when he has a bad game, he's on a team with considerably less talent at the skill positions than what he had at Green Bay.

If either has a good game, then good for him. Favre, although he shouldn't have retired and changed his mind, has a right to play in the NFL if he wants. Rodgers, who handled the whole situation with incredible grace and dignity, deserves to do well and I hope he does. I hope they both do.

there's more to this than meets the eye. There were clearly some problems between Favre and the Packers.

that they didn't just replace a hall of famer coming off a great season who, almost literally, never missed a game

with an unproven so and so who was, almost literally, hurt on every NFL snap he took.

odd thing is, i'm a steelers fan and i'm not from mississippi. i could give a **** about the packers and favre. but i'm a sports fan, and i really don't see where the pack is coming from on this.
