Wow, this his surprising. He will not be drafted high, if at all. What’s he thinking?
One year when SOS was here, I seem to recall we had several players declare for the draft early and either get drafted very late or not at all.
Brooks has like 900 career receiving yards.

Missed the Bowl game with some type of “issue”.Perhaps whatever that was figured into it.
You are right. I really empathized with those kids. I remember names, but won't mention them. Don't want to say anything that would be considered negative about those Young Men.
Wonder if some of these guys that may feel underused feel a little threatened by the portal... not knowing if someone is just gonna come in and jump ahead of you. Do you take your chances in the NFL, or do you take your chances in college? Idk, just thinking out loud.

Hope he has a good back up plan. He has little on his football resume. Of course it’s your life/your choice. Better get your degree though.
He had issues before and after the season. It may have come down to transferring to draft. Beamer might have been tired of whatever he was dealing with. He’s replaceable. I like how Legette came on at the end.
People keep saying his issues have to do with classes and blowing off tutoring classes. I don’t know, but was hoping he, Vann, and Wells would return with Legette. Best of luck to JB and hope he lands somewhere.
So. It may be that declaring for the draft is really his only option at this point. Best of luck to him, but I'm not bullish on his pro football career.
I don't even know who he is. He ain't going to the NFL. Another kid listening to some atrocious advice.
Brooks is a good receiver and blocks well. We would like to have him back. He has academic issues so why not wish him well and leave at that. We have plenty of people who quit on their team, why not criticize them instead.
Agreed. He's a good kid. If he makes it, great. If not, I believe he'll
do well outside of football. He's simply ready to move on to the next chapter.
I agree free agency but he has the body type the NFL desires. He has a chance.
It's the same group of vocal posters that whine and hate when someone makes a decision in which they don't agree.
He is also 22. Would be 23 next season and 24 before he started in the NFL. That certainly has to be a factor.
This is crazy. These kids are supposed to be getting realistic input to help them with their decision. Jalen is a good player but his credentials are severely lacking.
I think this is a case of him running out of options here. He showed up at the bowl game and practiced with the team. I think he will be a Gamecock for life in his heart.
When I didn’t make the grades they let me do something else. This is the answer. No more options except NFL. Good luck, great person, great gamecock.
I'll be pulling for Jalen in whatever happens next for him. Whatever issues he had, at least he stayed with the team in Jacksonville. I'm glad he chose to be a Gamecock.

Missing the bowl due to unspecified issues usually = bad grades/stopped going to class. Not everyone is college material.
Correct - the two big names I remember were DT - Quals and DB - Hampton (I think). I know it was a DB. I think it was him.
Quals had Ray Charles glasses on thinking his good SATS were all due to his solo actions. He seemed to forget Clowney was always double maybe triple teamed, which gave him a chance to make plays
He never got a sniff from the NFL. Both of those guys should be the poster children of you better think long and hard before you walk away from your free ride and ability to build your resume
Add Tori Gurley to the list...had practice squad cups of coffee with seven NFL teams and was briefly on the Cleveland Browns roster. He left early, but I think that was due in part to his age. Hopefully, he earned a degree.

Jalen Brooks is completely out of college eligibility. Players without remaining eligibility making announcements like this is fairly new, but it didn't start this year.
Please don't allow facts to get in the way of these jokers badmouthing our players.

wish him well....but like many that have gotten chances to play at Carolina in the last 3-4 years - IMO he didn't deserve to be in this program, or was good enough to be in this program. I hope that our future holds more Sidney Rice, S. Sharpe, K. McKinley, T. Williamson, Eddie Brown, R. Brooks type players than some of the guys who have gotten these incredible opportunities of late at WR.
