Hornets evaluate draft prospects at Arena
Posted by John Reid, The Times-Picayune June 12, 2008 3:09PM

The Hornets evaluated draft prospects for the third consecutive day, putting six players through a three-on-three scrimmage and agility drills at the New Orleans Arena.

Western Kentucky shooting guard Courtney Lee, Washington State shooting guard Kyle Weaver, Massachusetts small forward Gary Forbes, Mississippi State's combo guard Jamont Gordon, Louisville power forward/center David Padgett and Boston College center Tyrelle Blair participated Thursday.

The Hornets have the 27th pick in the first round of the June 26 draft and they are interested in selecting a shooting guard, point guard or power forward/center.

"I thought this was the best group of guys that we've had in here, they all had a little something,'' Coach Byron Scott. "Courtney really shoots the ball well and moves extremely well. You can tell that he's been well schooled. Jamont's extremely athletic and extremely strong. Kyle is a heck of defender and shoots the ball the better.''

Does J'money really have the skills to make it in the NBA? If he makes it and that's a mighty big IF! I just don't see him getting much playing time regardless of the team. He will need some serious improvement in ball handling skills and 3ball shooting. We all know he can drive the lane but that will only get him so far.
