I could get on board with him, but I’m not sure how realistic of a possibility he is.

Plus, I feel like he’s probably holding out for the Tennessee job***

I like the coach at Oregon State. He seems pretty solid and probably affordable. However, we have no opening. So, there's that.

I would love to have him. I just read his bio. Might be hard to pull him away from the Pacific Northwest but saw he only makes like 2.4m.

I don't believe there are many coaches available that would not be an upgrade. I feel sure I could do a better job and that's not hyperbole. C'mon man.....I'm being serious here

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick.

The guy you hired was given the keys to a new Chevy

Fisch was given the keys to a f ing yugo.
Chevy? No wonder the transmission went out. ***

That's why I posted two programs going in opposite directions.

Why would he take this job? He’s in a P5 conference, and will move to a P4 conference next year where he’ll have a legitimate chance to contend. Same as liepold, who I d as Kai see mentioned. I’d love to have either of those guys. But they’re just not going to be interested.

I can’t imagine why any ACC or Big 12 coach would go to the SEC. Those conferences, especially the Big 12, are now great opportunities for success and the playoff
Especially a SEC bottom feeder.

As easy as the road it will be in the Big 12 starting next season to get into the 12-team playoff, he would be a fool to come here.

I'm not convinced he would be interested in us. He's got a really good thing going. Coming to State to undertake a complete rebuild with Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC doesn't sound very appealing. If he continues his upward trend, he will get better offers than us.

He makes 2.4 million. I bet he would listen if we offer 5 or 6 a year. Actually I guarantee he would if for no other reason to make Arizona pay him. This is also why we need to cut bait quickly with Arnett. Schools are going to lock down coaches like him quickly once the season is over

He'd certainly listen to a big pay increase. I just think Arizona would be willing to match or get close to anything we'd be able to offer after what he's done to their program. He's a great coach and certainly worth the call. I just think it would make more sense for him to take a big pay bump at Arizona and keep doing what he's doing until a bigger program calls. He's also Florida alum and will at least receive interest from them.

I believe he played QB at Oregon st. I don’t like our chances of hiring him.
Our ADs that went to state both left for bigger jobs. With Oregon state headed to non power 5 he might leave. They won't be able to afford him or their new stadium realignment screwed them and wazzu over

I don’t disagree, but this can be said about virtually all of the candidates we want who are established head coaches. We may strike out, but you have to make that call.

He's improved and beaten ranked teams and made good use of the portal. On paper he's a good coach and his worst loss is to us. But why come here? He's getting a decent raise this year at Zona and, like Nape, he can get a better deal than we can offer. Maybe we can tell him what's likely to happen to Napier, though.

Oregon State’s coach (Jonathan Smith) is an alum there….played QB under Riley in early 2000’s. He’s not going anywhere.

Exactly. The fact that he’s at $2.6 million now is totally irrelevant. They are now ranked and looking at a very likely 8-4 or 9-3 season just 2 years after finishing 1-11. He’s probably already been approached and at least started early discussions on a big raise. We won’t be able to ante up as much as they can unless we just decide to offer him an unreasonably stupid number like $8-$9 million, and I don’t think he’s worth that.
