Massive 4* DT Jerome Simmons committed to USC today over UGA. Big get for Beamer!!
Yeah. #1 JUCO DT in the country. Obviously based on potential. Maybe he was injured or something.Interesting offer list, Carolina, UGA, Louisiana, Akron and Charlotte. JUCO kid, only had 1 sack all season. UGA must have seen him as a project or something.
Carolina may be becoming the stepping stone program for lower division players to move into P5.He's perfectly positioned now to become the lineman version of Mario.
Oh, we became that when we took that QB and that tall receiver (teammates) from up north out of Div. 2 a few years back after Beamer came. They both started some.Carolina may be becoming the stepping stone program for lower division players to move into P5.
Then, we'd better get as much as we can out of him next year. He's perfectly positioned now to become the lineman version of Mario.
As cheap as we can as well. Then, we'd better get as much as we can out of him next year.
I was curious where those to were in 2023, and looked it upOh, we became that when we took that QB and that tall receiver (teammates) from up north out of Div. 2 a few years back after Beamer came. They both started some.
I appreciate the specific information. I couldn't remember the school they transferred from, but it was decidedly minor in terms of football. Evidently Brown was deposited back to his proper level of competence.I was curious where those to were in 2023, and looked it up
The QB Jason Brown, went to Virginia Tech, did not win the starting job, and then still had another year left and played at Jackson State this year and threw 1399 yards, 8 TDs and 3 Ints.
The tall WR EJ Jenkins went to Georgia Tech had 316 yards and 3 tds in 2022, and then made the Eagles Practice squad this year but got cut about a month ago.
That's a big "IF".IF this kid gets good coaching, he has the potential to do a lot of damage. I like the pick-up.
Jason Brown will always be a hero for what he did to UF. Of all the improbable outcomes, that one was one of the most.I appreciate the specific information. He eked out seven wins by beating seven middling to worse-than-middling opponents, including Florida, Auburn, and UNC, all of which finished with losing records. Every team with a pulse beat us, and Beamer coached a terrible game against Kentucky, which would have been a decent team to beat since they finished 10-3.Jason Brown will always be a hero for what he did to UF. It's still crazy to me that we had Doty, Brown, and Noland as our QBs. How Beamer eked out 7 wins from that team is amazing. The 7th win coming with a QB that hadn't taken a snap in 2 years.
Went from 2 wins to 7, with Doty, Zeb, and Brown and one returning WR (Vann) that hadn't done anything to that point in his career. Downplay it all you want, but that was a huge achievement. He eked out seven wins by beating seven middling to worse-than-middling opponents, including Florida, Auburn, and UNC, all of which finished with losing records. We were not a good team. We were a 2 win team with a gutted roster. My goodness some of ya'll need to get laid or something!!I agree the magnitude of the outcome was surprising, but UF's game the very following week threw a bit of a wet blanket on our game. Playing at home, they allowed more yards and points to FCS Samford than they did to us at WB.
I do agree it was quite something to scratch out 7 wins without having a QB, but I also agree with King that we didn't beat a good team that year. However, the bowl game capped the season off in fantastic fashion as nobody saw us clobbering UNC like that.
You don't build it up by comparing it to Muschamp's non-performance.Went from 2 wins to 7, with Doty, Zeb, and Brown and one returning WR (Vann) that hadn't done anything to that point in his career. Downplay it all you want, but that was a huge achievement.
But it's where we were. Most people expected us to win 4 games. I believe the over/under was 4.5.You don't build it up by comparing it to Muschamp's non-performance.

Looking at how p!$$-poor they actually turned out to be, almost any halfway motivated .500 Power Five team should have beaten them by multiple scores on a neutral field.I agree the magnitude of the outcome was surprising, but UF's game the very following week threw a bit of a wet blanket on our game. We were still solidly pedestrian, if that. But it's where we were. Most people expected us to win 4 games. I believe the over/under was 4.5.
Ok fine. We won 4 in 2019, including getting drug up and down the field by App St. Fresh off of getting hammered by 4 TDs by a bad UVA team in the bowl game. We were on a serious decline that Beamer reversed. To be fair, as with every time the two win season is brought up, that season had no ooc patsies.
I know. Be careful though. You might get accused of something. smhThat's a big "IF".Literally.
